For this week’s team member spotlight, we are highlighting Jackie Jones! Jackie is the Regional Director of Operations for the West Coast. Jackie has been with Crunch since September of 2004, 18 years!
“In 2004 my sister was working the front desk at Bally total fitness, and she got me a job working the front desk at the south San Francisco location. Bally owed multiple brands, including Crunch. About 4 months later, I transferred to the sales team, and about 6 months later, I got promoted to the assistant general manager of the Chestnut location in SF. Shortly after, my gym got acquired. A year later, I was promoted to the GM of the Embarcadero location (unfortunately we closed that location during the pandemic). When we got acquired again in 2009, I moved to an operations manager role as the roles changed. I worked as a manger at almost all the locations in the NorCal area until I promoted to the RDO in 2014.

Time to hit the gym! Just be sure to grab the right shoes for your goals! 💪🏽✨👟
Best for...
RUNNING. Running shoes typically have more cushion on the insole to help absorb running impact. These are not good for weight lifting as the cushioning may impact your stability.
SQUATTING. Squat or powerlifting shoes have no cushioning and an elevated heel, allowing for a better squat position.
TRAINING. When lifting at the gym, you want a flat shoe that will give you stability and grip, to avoid slipping and sliding. A hard sole with strong arch support will help your lifts.
CROSS TRAINING. If you want to do a little bit of everything, a cross-training shoe is your best choice. These are great for group fitness classes and a fantastic all-around choice if you’re only looking to invest in one pair of gym shoes.

Meet Brandon Carlson, a 2022 President’s Club Member and the Fitness Manager at Crunch San Mateo! Swipe to see him and his team in action and help us congratulate him on his new addition to the family!
Brandon has been at Crunch for 3 years total, but in his current role at San Mateo for around one year. Before, he was a Fitness Manager at two Sacramento Crunch locations and a General Manager at several locations before that.
Favorite thing about working for Crunch: “The people! Getting to talk to new people every day is definitely one of the highlights of my job!”
What motivates/inspires him: “My partner and I just welcomed our daughter to the world! She motivates me every day to work just a little bit harder.”
Favorite Crunch core value: “Inclusive! This was the core value that initially drew me to Crunch. When I first started my fitness journey, I was about 50 pounds overweight and felt firsthand how hard it was to find my place in the gym, so I always try to go the extra mile with new members and clients to make sure they feel like they can really achieve their goals while they're at Crunch.”
Advice to new trainers: “Feed yourself first! It's really easy to let your personal workouts get put on the back burner when you start upping your client load. Make sure to show up for yourself first so you can better show up for your clients!”
Favorite food/treat: “About 6-7 sushi rolls”
Favorite free time activity: “I have been playing guitar since I was a kid, so whenever I have some free time, I always enjoy playing!”
Favorite exercise: “Barbell Squats for sure.”
Favorite quote: “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else."
Tips to share: “There's no such thing as a good food or a bad food. All food is just an energy source and all of them have a place in the right context. Enjoy your free meals!”
