Another weekly zoom FIKA at the Berry, and Communications Strategist Allaya Cooks-Campbell directed her “Passion Spotlight” on a fascinating and educational crash course in Positive Psychology. 🧠

Positive Psychology = the practice, research, and science behind helping people lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. 💛

We are honored and excited to welcome Allaya Cooks-Campbell to our Cloudberry team as Communications Strategist ❤️

Allaya has always been interested in digital publications, co-founding a newsletter with her best friend when they were in first grade. Her work has since expanded to include hundreds of published articles, copywriting, UX writing, web design, and content strategy for startups to Fortune 500 companies.

After our weekly in-person Thursday at the Berry, we visited the exciting exhibition “Video Games: The Great Connector” - co-curated by Cloudberry friend Barry Joseph - at Harlem Gallery of Science at HSA, followed by marvelous cocktails at the Sugar Monk ❤️

This time playing - We Didn’t Playtest This at All - a card game completely confusing, and so much fun. Way more laughs than actual playing! 🤣

“All of your opponents have the same simple goal and they are trying to make you lose. Between rock paper scissors battles, being eaten by a random dragon or saved by a kitten ambush, there are many hazards to avoid. Games last between 30 seconds and 5 minutes (if you play slow) and specifically engineered to fit in maximum fun. Any number can play, though we recommend between 2 and 15.”

In our weekly zoom FIKA, Visual Designer Mirae Han presented a “Passion Spotlight” with her highlights from Korean Culture; sharing the intense passion for street food (Pojangmacha = outdoor tented bar/quick food-to-go), photo booths (one of the latest trends - themed as an airplane bathroom) and bathhouses (Jjimjilbangs - 24 hrs saunas - for body scrubs, but also just a common place to relax with family and friends) 🍜 🎞️ 🧖‍♀️

We are so very pleased and grateful to welcome Rachel Ackerman to our Cloudberry team as Associate UX Designer ❤️

Rachel received her B.A. from Dartmouth College, where she studied Cognitive Science and Digital Arts. Rachel is a problem-solver who enjoys turning complex design challenges into elegant digital solutions. She uses her background in cognitive science to understand users and craft empathetic, enjoyable experiences.

Celebrating this year’s World Usability Day theme - Collaboration & Cooperation - we had three brilliant speakers presenting on the importance of designing for engagement and how to make people feel that they matter, on how human and also non-human objects have agency and how they collaborate, along with a peek into the not yet published literary composition on the puzzling mind of late Stephen Sondheim, ending with our guests cooperating in small groups trying to solve one of Sondheim’s infamous master mind treasure hunts.

Co-founders Sandy Williams, CEO, & Paul, Chief Creative Officer, recently traveled to the PNW to discuss 2024 strategic goals for Cloudberry, while enjoying the fresh air of Mt Rainier and Mt Baker. ⛰️

They then continued to Vancouver, Canada, facilitating a Service Design workshop for one of Canada’s Top 100 Firms. 👊

In our weekly zoom FIKA, Senior Visual Designer Lily Moore shared a trip down memory lane of her favorite video games, recognizing the importance of design and storytelling and how it has changed and improved during the years.

In our weekly zoom FIKA this Tuesday, Cloudberry UX Architect Jane Herzig-Garza lead us through a tortilla tutorial 💛 sharing her secret Southern Texan family recipe and teaching us how to make the most delicious tortillas. Some of which later turned into Taco Tuesday dinner in select locations over the continent 🤩🌎🌮

Last week our Cloudberry NYC team visited The Shed in Hudson Yards for a performance in the Sonic Sphere with The XX’s re-mastered music specifically designed for this cool space 🪩🎶

Within the sphere, you are surrounded by more than 100 speakers that move sound above, below, through, and around your body. Sound and light waves are sculpted into spatialized, temporal architectures. Together, they create hyperreal and deeply multi-sensory, shared experiences.

The UXRConf was created with the goal of celebrating and advancing UX research. This year with speakers from Slack, Amazon, Figma, Adobe etc., giving talks on topics like: Research Democratization, How will AI change UX Research? and Levers to drive Business Development as a Research Leader.

Appreciating the value of constant development, and the importance of providing the right conditions, Cloudberry offers an annual Professional Development stipend to all full-time employees.
