Today, we are honored to share Reverend Catherine A. Barker’s story. After the passing of Cathy’s father, Rev. E. Brentwood Barker, and the loss of the family’s sole income, Cathy’s mother wasn’t sure if “Christmas would be Christmas.” Then a check from The Christmas Fund arrived in the mail.

Our summer interns recently learned about the United Church Board for Ministerial Assistance (UCBMA), the philanthropic arm of the Pension Boards. They met with Joaquin Labour-Acosta, UCBMA Director, and Rev. Krista Betz, Director of Leadership Initiatives, who shared stories of their work.
