Promoting stenographic and voice writing/stenomask reporters & captioners in Georgia ✌️
The weather is warming ☀️ the flowers are blooming 🌹 the birds are singing 🐦 -- ah, English is in the air! 😤
Here's Art’s CEU schedule for the rest of the year.
➡️ Dates: June 1-2, September 14-15, November 9-10, December 7-8
➡️ Location: Zoom (You don't need it on your computer; Art will send you a link.)
➡️ Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. ET (with a 15-minute break at noon)
➡️ Cost: $100 per day
➡️ Credits: .5 CEUs (5 hours) per day
➡️ For RPRs: These courses are prequalified by NCRA rather than preapproved. That just means that they're accepted but you pay the $45 processing fee (only one fee for both courses combined if you take them both on the same weekend).
🤓 Courses: Rehab for Wounded Words (Saturday sessions)
Wounded words are everywhere: compound terms incorrectly ripped apart to form separate words, separate words brutally smashed together to form false compounds, possessives whose apostrophes had been severed from their bodies without anesthesia, unrelated words screaming in agony from having been improperly stitched together with hyphens, flattened lower-case letters forced to support the crushing weight of proper nouns . . .
In this webinar, we'll gather them all up and put them together again and nurse them back to health.
🤓 Punctuation Pandora's Box
(Sunday sessions)
Few people know that Pandora, who opened a box she wasn't supposed to and released all the evils into the world, had a younger sister who also opened a box and released all the punctuation marks into the world with no instructions about what they were supposed to do or how they were supposed to act.
In this webinar, we'll round up all these lost souls hanging out in the wrong places and restore dignity and order to the chaos of their lives.
If you're interested in attending, email [email protected], and we’ll put you in touch with Art to be added to his list.

GCRA hosted the 2024 Gold Dome Day at the Georgia Capitol this morning. We spoke with lawmakers, including Senator Brian Strickland who is the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. We concluded Gold Dome Day with a tour from GCRA’s lobbyist, Terry Rogers.
Georgia’s legislation regarding the court reporting industry is designed to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of court reporting in Georgia. GCRA works closely with the Georgia Board of Court Reporting, which oversees the certification, licensure, and regulation of court reporters. This includes setting standards for professional conduct, continuing education requirements, and the adoption of technology standards for the production of transcripts. Georgia law requires court reporters to be nationally certified and licensed by the Georgia Board of Court Reporting to practice in the state, ensuring they meet specific qualifications and adhere to professional standards. Additionally, the state has been exploring and implementing technological advancements within the court reporting industry, such as remote court reporting services, to increase accessibility and efficiency in the legal system. This legislative framework supports the vital role of certified court reporters in the judicial process by maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and professional ethics in the production of legal proceedings.
