This is one documentary that you must watch.
At the Rome 1960 Olympics, two decathletes staged a duel for the ages. CK Yang, a Taiwanese athlete of Austronesian heritage, and Rafer Johnson, the first African American flag bearer at the Olympics, battled for the gold medal in decathlon. Despite the fierce competition on track, Yang and Johnson were lifelong friends off track, and were both under the instruction of Coach Ducky Drake at UCLA, where they epitomized sportsmanship and camaraderie by supporting each other in training. As ethnic minorities in their respective countries, both Yang and Johnson experienced the impact of racial politics. Hear the story of two legendary athletes who transcended the strict boundaries of their times.

Are you watching the Olympics?
Many of you may be too young to know this. Here is an interesting story between Taiwanese aborigine and the Olympics.
In 1996, a catchy song by pop group Enigma served as an advertisement theme song for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
“Return to Innocence” interweaved the voice of Amis singer Difang with layers of electronic sounds, the song was exotic and ambient. Through this song, much of the world came to hear Taiwan aboriginal music for the first time, without realizing what they were hearing. Difang (1922–2002) discovered his stardom through a friend who had caught the song on radio, and he asked EMI to be credited on the album. When his request was turned down, he filed a lawsuit against Enigma in 1997. The parties reached an out-of-court settlement in 1999.
Listen to the song below and let us know your thoughts.

The world’s largest carmaker, Volkswagen AG, has registered the name of one of Taiwan’s top tourist attractions, “Taroko,” for a new pickup truck.
In 2018, the auto giant already presented the “Tarok Concept” at car shows, but the small pickup never went into production. That might change again, but the vehicle could bear the new name.
