Thank you to our city’s leaders for working to restore critical funding to food pantries and soup kitchens in the next . We were proud to join with our allies Food Bank For New York City, City Harvest, United Way of New York City and New Yorkers from across the city to advocate for this change, and thankful that our City Council and Mayor have heard our call!

Thank you, advocates and change-makers! Your support has been vital in restoring funding for the Community Food Connection program in the FY25 New York City Budget. This program is essential in providing food for community organizations across every borough. We appreciate our city’s leaders for backing food and services for older adults, expanding MyCity to include childcare assistance, and continuing to support the Mayor’s Office of Food Policy.

At Food Bank, we understand the significance of these investments in addressing the city’s affordability crisis for families. The crucial need for consistent funding for food pantries and soup kitchens has become more evident with an 80% surge in visits to the food assistance network since before the pandemic. We must remain dedicated to securing the necessary funding to support families facing food insecurity and rising food costs.

My faith puts health first. Supreme Court abortion ruling would pander to Christian extremists. Protecting emergency reproductive care that prioritizes the life of the pregnant person is about our right to religious freedom, too.

will hear oral arguments on April 24 in a case that could limit emergency abortion care nationwide. In Judaism, abortion is required when the life of the pregnant person is at stake. We loudly & proudly say that abortion bans violate our religious freedom.

The shooting of three Palestinian students in Burlington, VT is senseless and outrageous.

Here's our statement:

“We condemn the senseless act of gun violence against three Palestinian college students who were shot and wounded in Vermont while walking to a family dinner during their Thanksgiving break. As a Jewish organization that stands firmly against hate and violence, we express our outrage and share our prayers for a full and speedy recovery for Hisham Awartani, Tahseen Ahmed and Kinnan Abdalhamid.

“While the motivation for this crime has not been confirmed, we call for a thorough investigation into this incident, including examining it as a possible hate crime, and urge authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims in America should be able to live in safety and without fear. Now, more than ever, we must collectively work towards a world where diversity is celebrated, and violence has no place.”
