City Tech salutes Law and Paralegal Studies alumna Chyna Macharie (BS ’22) as shining star in the College’s history. Chyna has expressed great joy for her time at City Tech and the professors, classmates, and friends who inspired her journey. Few may know, however, that Chyna was undergoing treatment for kidney failure while studying for her last final exams and continues to do so today. Chyna recalls panicking in the hospital when she fell behind in her coursework during treatment. She was determined to complete her degree and credits City Tech and her professors for supporting her and allowing her the time needed to complete her coursework from a hospital bed and graduate Summa Cum Laude. While she admits that her dialysis is draining, Chyna remains a fighter. She is hopeful about the future and says, “I want to make something of myself and hope that I can move on with my life soon.”
If you would like to send Chyna a message of encouragement, please email her at [email protected] or share her story https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/patients/chyna-macharie.
Congratulations to City Tech alumnus Christopher Navarrete, Professional and Technical Writing '19, for being honored with President Biden's Volunteer Service Award for 2022! 🥈🏆 🎉

Reflecting on the 1974-75 academic year, the student editors of City Tech’s 1975 yearbook wrote, “On the one to one level, in the halls and classrooms of the college, the clubs and organizations-- the sharing and the human communication mattered. People trying to create something or trying to learn something or do something… These seemed to be the things that mattered.”
These words of aspiration and community from those who came before light our way as we celebrate the College’s 75th Anniversary and Giving Tuesday.
Please consider giving to City Tech, where today’s students, faculty, and staff continue creating, learning, and doing things that matter.
