It's never too late to start exercising! A new study finds that even if you’ve never worked out before, you still have the same ability as a world-class athlete to build muscle. Even small amounts of exercise can make a big difference to your health.

If you are not sure where or how to start, consulting a doctor, working with a trainer, or both can be helpful. There are also many great exercise apps that give you exercise routines with videos and explanations of correct form as well as options for working around any injuries you may have.

If you are like most people, you are probably not drinking enough water. If you don’t stay hydrated throughout the day, your energy levels and brain function start to suffer. And there are plenty of studies to support this. One study in women showed that a fluid loss of 1.36% after exercise impaired mood and concentration and increased the frequency of headaches.

Start your day off right. Commit to drinking 16 ounces of water before you drink coffee or anything else every morning. Try it for 30 days and see if it helps you drink more water.

We asked parents how they handle the chaos of kids being back in school. Here are some of the responses we thought might be helpful:

- Make lunches and prep book bags the night before.
- Have your kids pick out their clothes before bed.
- Split the chores and make sure each child has a task to help with.
- Set a specific homework time everyday in a clean, quiet space with limited distractions.
- Have a bedtime routine and stick to it.
- Pick your battles.
- Breathe

If you have a child who is an athlete make sure they get a sports physical before the start of their season. The physician will listen to their lungs and heart, and be able to check for any exertion conditions such as asthma that can get worse when playing sports. The provider will also check your child's bones and muscles to make sure they are healthy.

Flu vaccines are now available at Hoag Urgent Care. No reservation is needed, just walk in to any of our 16 Hoag Urgent Care locations. Although the flu shot does not guarantee total protection, it is worth getting. The flu vaccine can lower your risk of getting the flu and also lower the risk of having serious illness from the flu.

This is a great reminder that Hoag Urgent Care is here for you when you can't see your regular doctor. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm (and now with two locations open 7am to 10pm!) and Saturday to Sunday 8am to 5pm.

This is a great urgent care. Hoag is pretty on point when it comes to patient care and I appreciate that they honor appointment times.
