Our Story
Mission Statement
Its is our goal at Outdoor Valor to provide All Veterans with an outdoor adventure. We give all Veterans the chance to experience a fish of a lifetime.
Our Company
We where originally founded on this idea by Matt Schwanke who wanted to take Veterans ,like himself, fishing for free. He was tired of other Non-profits asking for resumes and questionnaires. Like what happened to you and why they should pick you over the next vet. So he and his family founded Outdoor Valor with the sole purpose of taking all Veterans no matter what as long as they are honorably discharged, no questions asked. He states all Veterans of all wars and peace time need to be treated fairly and all deserve to go fishing.
We started this organization back in 2016 providing the necessary funding out of our own pockets out of love and appreciation for our veterans and deiced that it was a worthy cause to do. It is also notable that no one at Outdoor Valor takes a paycheck as we are a true Non-Profit, All money raised goes straight to the fishing trips and veterans expenses.
In 2019 we declared ODV to be a Faith based organization. We are committed to healing our Veterans with PTSd. Most of our Vets with PTSd come back for multiple trips as we counsel them through peer to peer therapy. Veterans with combat related PTSd have first priority.

Trips
On our trips we provide everything to vets, rods, reels, tackle, bait and ice. All we ask is for them to bring a very large cooler to take their catch home and some lunch. We proved their license and everything they need. We provide the necessary instruction on how to catch the various species of fish on each trip.
Average Trip Expenses
Boat Fuel- $320
Bait-$65
Ice-$25
Terminal tackle&lures-$40
Trip Expense-$ 450
Gulf
Our Gulf side trips typically start later in the day around 10am and run well into the night. We fish until the vets want to go home or we run out of bait which ever comes first and that is usually running out of bait. We typically are trolling for Gag Grouper then following that up with trolling for King Mackerel. After all that we go park on one our many reef sites and load up on Mangrove Snapper that are in the size range of 16''-20''. On these reefs there are Red Snapper and Amber Jacks. During select times of the year we will take them Scalloping in the morning then fishing in the afternoon for a full day of fun.
Atlantic
Our Atlantic trips will start around 5am and will run to 6-8pm depending on the time of year and sea conditions. We will run out to the Gulf Stream and troll for Mahi and Tuna. Once we have had our fill of those fish we will hit our reefs on the way back in to catch some Amber Jacks and Snapper.
