UTPB’s Chloee Suchy graduated this spring with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She plans to pursue her masters in social work at Columbia University!
She says being accepted into an Ivy League was something she dreamt of but didn’t think was a real possibility.
“I now recognize it is a privilege that grants me the opportunity to receive a top-tier education so I can empower individuals and communities within the Permian Basin. I hope to apply the latest studies and research findings to enhance the mental health services available in our growing community,” said Suchy.
Suchy says what sets social work apart is the direct pathway to licensure at the bachelor’s level, making hands-on learning that much more crucial. She describes her experience at UTPB as invaluable.
“The education I received prepared me with the knowledge and skills needed to become a competent social worker ready for real-world practice. The practicum component was essential to my experience as a social work student,” said Suchy.

After a nationwide search, the University is thrilled to have a native West Texan and UTPB alum leading the College of Education. Seybert earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees from UTPB and then went on to earn a terminal degree in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from the University of Texas San Antonio. In her new role, Seybert will play a significant role in strengthening partnerships with regional ISD’s, which is an important step in creating pathways for future teachers.

Ally chose to come to UTPB because of the women’s basketball coaching staff, who recruited her to be on the team.
