Congratulation Kone on your achievement of DSP-1! Kone has been with Community Resources since July 2020. In May of 2022, he joined the second group to go through the National Direct Support Professional E-Badge Academy. He has completed the DSP-1 Badge. The DSP-1 badge involves bringing to the table his experience and applying his experience through the lens of the Code of Ethics and areas of focus that include 15 different E-Badges.

Here’s What Kone had to say about what achieving DSP-1 means to him:
I think NADSP E-badge Academy is helpful very much with who works at Health care department and who support people with disability. The lesson gives you a lot of more detail about when, how, which what to do during you support people. how we make them safe, healthy, and happy. they will give you examples that you can use with your job every day. I think if you enjoy with what you are doing and always thinking positive way you will be successful in it.

Congratulations Harlee!

Harlee has been with Community Resources since February 2020. In January of this year, she joined the first group to go through the National Direct Support Professional E-Badge Academy. She has completed the DSP-1 Badge. The DSP-1 badge involves bringing to the table her experience and applying her experience through the lens of the Code of Ethics and areas of focus that include 15 different E-Badges.

Here’s What Harlee had to say about what achieving DSP-1 means to her: Achieving DSP-1 means embracing the spirit of change to use the resources available to me to do my part in making Community Resources a better community for people with disabilities to be supported in and for their paid staff to work in. – Harlee

Zen of Tom by Dave Hingsburger

"It isn’t easy to ask for help for a reason, you are placing yourself,
and your needs, and your weaknesses into the hands of
another. The superpower that I don’t have is being able to look
into the heart of another; if I did have this ability, I would be able
to trust without also having to have faith in another. Again, no
words were spoken, but Tom’s ability to make me feel
comfortable and safe were remarkable. I think of the people we serve. Do they feel comfortable with our support? Do they feel
safe in our presence? How do we communicate our heart through the use of our hands? Our voices? Our approach to their needs? Are we so used to providing support that we no longer know what it means? Have we become numb to the dynamic of power that is
implicit in our being the ‘helper,’ and they being the ‘helpee?’ Perhaps, since you are reading this, you can also take the time to figure out how you make people feel welcome and comfortable while you meet their needs? Maybe you can ask yourself if, in your
interactions, people feel safe with you."

A member of our community, Amanda Winship, passed away May 5th. We our saddened that our earthly encounters have ended. We will miss this incredible woman who was always prepared, always present – no moment was too small to savor and nothing in life too large, generous, the finder of all things asked for, compassionate, and Pokemon player. Her journey was well-travelled, her life touched many lives being in service to others; she will be missed.
