Thanks to a $3,750 grant from the J. Milton Hoffa & Nellie E. Hoffa Memorial Foundation, 17 individuals in Central Florida received much-needed durable medical equipment through Stepping Stone Medical Equipment Bank this year. Through the generosity of our funders these individuals are able to maintain the independence and dignity they deserve.

Today marks the start of Fall Prevention Week. One of the biggest risks to the wellbeing of seniors is injury from falls. Take time to visit with older friends, relatives and neighbors to make sure their homes are "fall-proofed", free of clutter and well lit. Get more tips here.
Our thanks to the Margaret McCartney & R. Parks Williams Foundation for their generous $5,000 grant in support of our Emergency Meals on Wheels Program. These funds will provide over 600 meals and support seniors in crisis following a hospital stay or the loss of a caregiver. Seniors First is truly grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Florida Blue Foundation and your recent grant award of $10,000 for general operating support. Your investment will assist our programs to help low-income Central Florida seniors to remain living independently in their own homes, where they prefer to be.
We could not fulfill our mission to serve without the support of our partners like you. Together, we are ensuring one of the most vulnerable populations is not forgotten. Thank you again for your generous support and trust in our organization.

Our Story
By 2030, the U.S. Bureau of Census predicts there will be approximately 70 million people who are 65 and older….one in five Americans will be seniors. Based on these projections, Seniors First, Inc will continue to be challenged to meet the increasing demands of an aging population which given the choice - prefer to remain living independently.
Seniors First targets services to highly vulnerable elderly populations age 60+ and disabled adults age 18-59, including the very old, people living alone, people below or near the poverty line, minority populations, and individuals with significant health conditions or mental impairments. The specific vulnerabilities include physical frailty, sensory decline, low education level, cognitive decline, lack of transportation, low social support and depression, which often require extensive intervention and advocacy.
Each year, the agency provides a broad array of cost effective, efficient services, to more than 4,000 clients. We also maximized funding to serve the greatest number of individuals with an appropriate level of service which often is the only thing that keeps these vulnerable individuals from having to move to a more restrictive environment, sacrificing independence and freedom of choice.
Our mission would never be accomplished without the support of our committed volunteers, the oversight and guidance given by the dedicated Board of Directors and the generosity of our funders, donors, staff, and caring community. We are also deeply grateful for the support we receive from local businesses, foundations and individual donors. Some of the partnerships contributing to our success include:
· Publix Charities
· WFTV 9 Family Connection
· Turkey Trot 5k and High Tea & Hats sponsors
· Donated Meal site space by many local government community centers, faith communities and senior housing facilities
· Enhanced programming for both our Neighborhood Lunch and Meals On Wheels program sites through collaboration with many community organizations, health care providers, children’s groups, cultural and hospice organizations, the Senior Resource Alliance, and Orange County Cooperative Extension Agency.
Central Florida seniors deserve our best efforts. Together we have the unique opportunity to enhance a senior’s quality of life by continuing to promote choice, independence, and positive aging.
