For many people, exercise and nutrition are common for a New Year’s resolution topic. As a personal trainer, I hear these resolutions every January. People are full of good intentions and flood into the gym and get started on a new and healthier lifestyle.
It is something important to work towards and some people are successful in working towards a healthier lifestyle, but some lose sight of their good intentions and fall back into old habits and unhealthy patterns in just a few weeks (or days).
If a healthier New Year is what you want, keep that desire strong throughout the year. New habits are not born overnight, you have to keep working at them all year long. https://trainwithnicole.com/new-year-new-you/

According to new research from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the reduced risk was seen in both men and women and in both Black and white study participants.
Researchers also noted that taking 10,000 steps per day did not result in lower mortality risk. Step intensity was also not associated with mortality.
So, get out there and walk your 7,000 steps (about 3 miles), even at a slow pace, as often as you can!

May is National Stroke Awareness Month.
A stroke is a brain injury caused by blood flow to the brain being blocked, or bleeding in the brain. After having a stroke you may experience physical, mental and emotional complications. These could include: weakness on one side of the body, joint pain, trouble walking, speech and language difficulties, trouble with memory or focusing, etc. Stroke rehabilitation programs can help you continue to live as independently as possible after a stroke, and to learn to adjust to the physical and mental changes caused by your stroke. However, with simple lifestyle changes you can help prevent strokes.
