NAMI San Gabriel Valley is happy to highlight long time volunteers Katherine Ellis and Alfred Schoepke. Katherine and Al lead a team of dedicated volunteers in the Quality of Life program which serves Board and Care homes in the San Gabriel Valley area by providing life-enhancing activities and materials to the residents of the homes. These include games and sports equipment, art and writing supplies, gift cards, clothing, equipment such as televisions and computers, and libraries. It arranged for outings such as professional baseball games, the fair, and the Rose Parade. The program also distributes donated gifts and cards on holidays and special occasions. The Quality of Life program has been a special project of NAMI San Gabriel Valley since 2005. Katherine and Al have led the Quality of Life program for 15 years since they took it over from previous volunteers.
