Life is always presenting us all with bumps in the road, detours, brand new untraveled pathways...

One of my hardest posts yet is to write that we will not be opening at all this year and not, as I envisioned it ever would be, because we “failed”. This was not something we foresaw, not what we had planned, we were looking forward to the prospect of opening more this year and sooner than the summer as I know you all were too.

Sometimes life tries relentlessly to pull us away from the things we need to look at the most and this “bump in the road” has become unavoidable. I don’t know where we’ll be after this year, I can’t say if we will be back in any sense of the sameness, or whatever our future “plans” are, I truly have no idea as our only clear and concise plan right now is centered in very deep healing as individuals. I believe everything will lend itself to clarity in time.

I know I say this a lot, but it’s because I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart, my customers, YOU GUYS, conversations we’ve had, your patience when we’ve shifted gears on numerous occasions in our short time, have been more important to me in ways you could never even understand.

Whether you came to our little shed one time and bought one thing for one dollar, or you showed up religiously in support, you were ALL a part of something big that I will always be eternally grateful for. You repeatedly reinforced that we, as we were, were enough, we were worth showing up for, which would come to be an integral part in our ultimate healing. At the end of the day, we are all, nevertheless, just mere students in the classroom of life if we choose to be.

It takes an enormous amount of strength to turn inward and it’s time to show up for ourselves and there will be no more drowning out the sound of what has been begging for my attention for far too long now. May we all give ourselves that gift at some point in our lives. It has been a beautiful and reassuring thing to me to have felt that I could share bits and pieces of my heart and soul here in my writing and photography and it was received, often by most who had no idea who was even behind it. It’s me, Niki and it always was. ❤️

…And finally, on a lighter note, some of you may rest easy tonight knowing that our offensive merchandise containing words such as “f**k” will no longer be infiltrating the community you’re trying desperately to “clean up”. 😂 However, buying merchandise for my own store, where there was never anyone on top saying absolutely not, has been a joy of mine and a lot of laughs were shared in this little space. ❤️

Red Velvet with a brownie crust, a homemade milk chocolate ganache poured on top, white chocolate drizzle and a classic homemade buttercream finish around the edge.

Damn Good Cookies have made the Valentine’s Day line up!

The name… my mom was watching her best friend’s daughter one morning and she had to take her to preschool that afternoon.

She was baking a batch of cookies real quick and she asked her what kind they were and because my mom had no idea what they were, she told her “damn good cookies”.

She takes her to pre school and apparently they ask the kids what they did that morning and she said “I made damn good cookies with my mom’s friend”. So that is honestly all they’ve ever been.

These ones are a peanut butter cookie with a Reese cup inside and white chocolate on top!

According to the numbers, CHEESECAKE was your favorite item last year! The addition of cheesecake was a goal in 2023 but in no way expected to become our #1. We had some faithful weekly regulars coming in for the flavor of the week every single week or close. We sold whole special cheesecakes for weddings and holidays and then we got crazy and added cheesecake tacos which turned out to also be a hit...From a tiny little shed on the side of the road!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday!!! It would take me a minute to individually respond to everyone, but I saw it all and felt the love! With happy babies and a simple life, I am surrounded by so much joy and I am grateful to have had another year to grow.

35 welcomed me with a new stage of life and wisdom where you go to start a sentence and there is NO other way to start it besides “kids these days don’t”… in that moment, it hit me, I didn’t even try to stop myself, I have arrived. 😂

P.S. - what I was trying to say was that kids these days don’t have any idea what it was like to grow up in the 90’s and I honestly, truly wish they did! They walk around in their vintage 90’s tv show t-shirts… looking for “nostalgic” items from that time frame… I know we all do it… but man, we were just hanging out outside being “bored” when the internet started becoming more prevalent. What was fun to me was leaving a silly message on our answering machine for when people called our house. 😐

She has shown me so many things about life, she has shown me how to unconditionally love someone, she has shown me how to be a better version of myself and why its important, she has shown me why its important to take of ones health not only physically but also mentally.
The best part is being equal business partners in this little venture we both took on 4 short seasons ago. I could not ask for a better business partner she is nothing short of amazing, she tends to push me beyond my comfort zone in so many ways, like “mom you need to try this” and so many times I drag my feet and then I do it with great success because she pushes me!
She is the backbone to our business, she takes amazing photos and makes you literally want to lick the screen! She is an amazing writer a skill she did not get from me clearly you can tell!

Candy said it best today: you come here, catch up on life, catch up on the town and I love it. That’s the way it should be.

This year we have been fortunate enough to be a part of weddings, birthdays, special holidays, peoples’ good days, peoples’ bad days and little pockets of whatever else life brings up in between.

Having a small business in general is hard. Having a small business in strange (to put it lightly) economical times is hard. Having a small business with family is hard. It was, however, in so many ways what we all NEEDED to evolve as humans and I am so grateful to you all to have been a huge part of our evolution as human beings, communicators, creatives, and pushing us past our previous edge of comfort that has since expanded with your support!

Thank you for joining us on the ride. See you in 2024.

The cheesecake this week is…….. sugar cookie! Homemade sugar cookies from scratch throughout a homemade vanilla from scratch cheesecake with a signature buttercream on top, crumbled cookie, festive sprinkles and each slice will have a mini sugar cookie on top.

I know many were hoping for the Little Debbie Tree Cheesecake again but unfortunately there is a time of year where they stop selling those at every location you can think of. Which was the case, so in its place this week is our sugar cookie cheesecake by the slice!

We will be open Saturday from 10-2 for our last day open of the year!

Move over Grandma Mary… the elves are taking over the Greatest Baker Challenge! 😂

Christmas pre-orders are orders officially closed and can’t say there’s a sadness to the nearing end of decorated sugar cookies for a little bit with having completed over 700 just for the a Christmas season! Homemade… from scratch… with homemade buttercream… hand decorated… with A LOT OF LOVE!

I will have *some* sugar cookies for Saturday, just don’t know which designs yet and we will have other cookies like we did last Saturday!

We’ll be open for our last day of the year on Saturday from 10-2 🙂

Featured item this week is Grandma Mary’s homemade cheesecake meets Little Debbie! It is a homemade vanilla cheesecake base with a vanilla wafer crust, nostalgic little Debbie Christmas trees are baked inside and the top is finished with a homemade white chocolate ganache, homemade red buttercream and green sprinkles!

Some other things we’ll have tomorrow include: pepperoni rolls, Italian bread with cheese baked into it, chocolate chip, m&m and sugar cookies, buckeyes, milk chocolate dipped peanut butter crackers, chocolate dipped Oreos and chocolate whoopie pies with a peppermint buttercream inside!

Who’s coming!? Second to last day open for 2023! We’ll be open 10-2 tomorrow ☺️

When we say chocolate chip cookies...we mean it. A chocolate chip cookie should have chocolate chips... 😂

We’ve had a lot of requests for this. Cheesecake with little Debbie Christmas trees… this is Niki speaking: putting Little Debbie anything into a delicious homemade from scratch cheesecake makes me shudder but…. Grandma Mary says: “I weirdly love those things” and I imagine a lot of people do lol.

I get it, it’s probably nostalgia for people… 🎄

Maddi just weighed in: those look IDENTICAL to the little Debbie’s! I said they ARE the little Debbie’s but in grandma’s cheesecake. “Oh my gosh. I would try it!”

We shall see. 😂

We typically close in December until the following Summer with the exception of pop ups for baked goods during holidays (ex: Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day).

Would there be any interest in us being open for baked goods 1-2 Saturday’s a month in the “down time”, would you come?
