Very nice and fast swims this weekend at Moon Valley. A LOT of personal best. As a coach very happy to see all your hard work paying off.

Quick reminder if you sign up with the new team in June you will save the $135 registration fee.

IMPORTANT!! Big new and big changes.

Some big changes to to the Sunwest swim team. As of Friday/May 27 Arrowhead Country Club is eliminating all swim teams at their pools. they are going a different direction.

They want to make the pool a more resort style pool for their club members. I tried to get a pool time they said "no".

I'm really sad about this, but we do have a future.

So starting Tuesday/May 31st we are combining teams with Arizona Swimming Gauchos at Glendale CC (59th ave/Olive).

The Gauchos have been a staple in the Arizona swimming community for over 30 years. They use a great facility.

I will keep is simple. I really don't know how many families are willing to drive to GCC and continue swimming with the new pool and practice times.

Here is the schedule:

Senior Group (High school) Sunwest Gold & Silver group

Mon, Tues, Thur 5:30-7 pm, Saturday 8:30-10am

$170 a month

Age Group (12 and under) Sunwest Bronze & OW

Mon, Tues, Thur 5:45-7 pm, Saturday 8:45-10am

$135 a month.

I would love to get a number count of how many families are going to join Coach Chris at the Gauchos, via email or text.

If you plan on joining the Gauchos you need to sign up on line at

azswimminggauchos.org.

DO NOT SIGN UP BEFORE JUNE 1ST, or you will be charged for May then charged again for June.

I realize it's further, but the later starting time should help and evening practice should make getting your swimmer to practice a little easier.

I will stop all autopay for June.

Yes this is disappointing, but I think the opportunity to swim at a great pool with an established program will benefit the kids and keep the team growing. More room and unlimited potential for growth.

I have really enjoyed being your Coach at Arrowhead, and I look forward to continue to be your Coach at GCC.

I want to thank Kyle and the Gauchos for agreeing to combine teams and give the Sunwest kids a pool to swim at.

Gauchos Summer Rec Team

This is NOT a USA Swim Team. This is an Recreational summer team that may serve as an introduction to what being on a USA Swim Team may be like to start. These recreational workouts are challenging, but USA Swim workouts are even more challenging and have competitive expectations.

Cost is $150 for the recreational summer hours.

Practice is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays

7 to 10 year olds practice times are 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.

11 to 18 year olds practice times are 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Meets are Thursday afternoons / nights

Championship meet is TBA.

This is a High School Development Group that focuses on preparing a beginner to novice swimmer for High School Swim Teams.

This group does not have meets, only practices.

Practices run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m..

No practice on Memorial Day, June tenth, or 4th of July.

Cost is $200 for the summer session.

Also, Just a curiosity, Why do you or don't you participate in swim meets? I would love to have more sunwest swimmers at the meets. Arrowhead Country Club is closing the pool (starting Oct 1st) This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There will be no AM or PM practice on Friday. Enjoy the weekend!

Storms and lightening are due to continue through out the afternoon/evening. So no SWS practice today. Enjoy the rain!

430-530 groups the same, OW TTH, Bronze group MWF or TThFr.

Silver and Gold groups 530-630 pm-or 630-730 pm. The water has gotten very warm and this week is excessively hot, with higher than normal humidity and scorching sun, you know typical August weather.

Next week (August 9th) back to normal 430-530, OW bronze, 530-7 Gold and Silver.

There is a 530-7 am practice available for HS kids MWF.

If interested in a team cap with name on it please tell me Auigust 20th, 2 minimum.

If a parent is interested, The team needs another water cannon. First cost me over $2000. I think a parent with time, tools can build one. Of course I will pay for parts. We still have at least 2 months of HOT temperatures.

OW T/TH 430-530pm

Bronze MWF or TTH Fr 430-530pm

Gold & Silver 530-7 pm MTWThFr

For the week of August 2nd I am also going to offer a 7-830pm because I expect A LOT of HS kids are going to show up for that week before their HS practices start, not on Friday. I am not going to officially separate who goes to each practice usually the kids separate themselves.

No afternoon practice Friday July 23rd (tomorrow) due to swim meet this weekend. Enjoy the rain we are supposed to be getting over the next few days.

Today starts the summer schedule June 1st. 12-1 OW TTH, Bronze 12-1 MWF or TThF
Silver/Gold 1-230 or 230-4, No 230-4 on Friday

Congratulations to Briar and Gideon they placed first and second in the 50 shoot out this weekend. they both swam very fast 50's about 4 races in less than 10 minutes, very fun to watch.

Swim meet schedule is posted on web site for most of summer. If you are knew to Sunwest within the past year i need a copy of your child's birth certificate if you want them to participate in a USA sanctioned swim meet this summer, via picture thru email the best way. I will have some small meets for beginners of all ages at the CC in June on Tuesday/Thursday evening. Great way to get a feel before jumping into the big races. Contact me later for dates.

Summer schedule starts June 1 thru July 30th.

Olympic Way group 12-1 Tuesday/Thursday

Bronze Group 12-1. Please stay the same days MWF or TTHFR.

Silver/Gold 1-2:30 or 2:30-4 MTWTH, Friday only 1-2:30.

Prefer the 5-6:30 group swim the 1-2:30 practice and 6:30-8 group swim the 2:30-4 practice.

Still flexible with reduced Covid restrictions. usually the kids spread themselves out. If I get too many in one group i might need to place restrictions and ask for people to only come at certain times.

LAST: Coach Chris and Shannon are taking the week of May 17-21 st off. we need a break and the kids can catch up on finals, some last minute extra credit. wash dad's car, vacuum their rooms, learn a new language or read a good book. No morning practice either.

NO MASTERS practice that week either, May 17-21

Also NO PRACTICE MEMORIAL DAY/May 31st.

The 6:30 to 8:00 practice for Wed. March 3rd (today) is canceled. The winds are very dangerous tonight. Better to be safe than sorry. See everyone at next practice!

Strict no parent on deck policy, same rules as last meet in Chandler.

I know things are easing up, but we still want to show the club we are aware of the situation and we are doing are part to help prevent the spread .

Also I will be hiring guards this summer for Fireside at Norterra, I have also attached the City of Glendale Lifeguarding program. Qustions about a job please talk to me personally.
