Representatives from ImpactLife came by Peoria Area Food Bank to present a $1000 donation made possible by local blood donors. The contribution comes through ImpactLife’s “Good Giving” program, in which blood donors are given the opportunity to support a nonprofit cause instead of receiving a gift card after giving blood. We appreciate blood donors for helping save lives in Peoria, and for supporting our mission, too! ImpactLife is the provider of all blood components transfused to patients at OSF HealthCare and Carle Health facilities in our region. Food Pantry Network – HOI is leading a Clean for a Cause campaign during the month of April. We encourage organizations/groups to coordinate a cleaning drive and collect items to donate to a local pantry.

To participate, is as easy as 1-2-3:
1. Buy your cleaning bucket!
2. Add the items to your donation container – Tip and shopping list attached.

Representative John Lewis was an American politician and civil rights activist who served in the United States House of Representatives for Georgia's 5th congressional district from 1987 until he died in 2020. He participated in the 1960 Nashville sit-ins, the Freedom Rides, was the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and was one of the "Big Six" leaders of groups who organized the 1963 March on Washington. Lewis penned the quote below in his memoir, 'Walking with the Wind: A Memoir of the Movement'. Always an eloquent speaker, Lewis has demonstrated throughout his career that words, while powerful, must be accompanied by action to drive change.
