Life Balance Counseling Peoria is proud to announce another group therapy offering for those beginning recovery from s*xual addiction! We believe strongly in the transformational power of group therapy demonstrated by this group becoming the 7th weekly therapy group at Life Balance Counseling. The modality of group therapy is a time-tested, powerfully effective way to break through the layers of denial, delusion, and self-deceit which accompanies s*xual addiction and generate long-lasting change. Life Balance Counseling Peoria is pleased to announce that a new Therapy Group for recovery from S*x and P**n Addiction. This 90 Minute will start Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, and will meet weekly on Wednesday Afternoons from 4-5:30pm CST, on an ongoing basis. Group will be a hybrid of both Face-to-Face and TeleHealth. This group will be co-facilitated by Melissa MacAuley, LSW, EMDR & ERCEM Trained, Leslie “Les” Perera, AMFT, CSAT-Candidate, EMDR & ERCEM Trained, and Alan Moreland, LMFT, CSAT, EMDR Certified, & ERCEM Trained.
The group will consist of an organic mixture of check-in’s, accountability, empathy building exercises, psycho-educational lectures, weekly outside readings, group processing and sharing, and presentation of homework assignments, to assist the participants to verbalize an understanding of the signs and symptoms of s*xual addiction, the impact of addiction on one's life and the lives of those they love the most, and to develop a plan to heal from compulsive s*xual behavior.

Words seem so woefully inadequate to express the empathy I feel for nurses, first responders, and other healthcare professionals (HCP) on the “front lines!”
I make up that Dayton, Ohio is not the only place where HCP’s feeling this way.

A decade after retiring from the US Navy, Les was inspired to become a Marriage & Family Therapist to serve his fellow Veterans, their partners, and families suffering from effects of PTSD. Les combines his life experiences, education, and training help those suffering from trauma.
