Membership - Petoskey Snowmobile Club Your membership in the Petoskey Snowmobile Club is highly encouraged. It's a great way to stay involved in keeping our trail system alive and well. We also welcome your presence and participation in our social activities such as group rides, trailside beanpots, and fundraisers.
There is a meeting tonight at 7pm for all members or new members looking to join. Also all new board members will be meeting with the old board members at 6pm to get required documents and information to easily transition into the new spots.
Your new board members are as follows:
President- Logan Leist
Vice President- Lucas Hoffman
Treasure- Brad (BJ) Schrage
Secretary- Ken Kondrat
Trustee- Marty Lump
Trustee- Dave Hansen
Trustee- Scott Leist
We look forward to seeing you all there!
We will be voting a new board at the upcoming meeting. If you are interested in a seat, come get involved.
We have one nomination for President running unopposed with Logan Leist. Running for treasurer unopposed is current VP BJ Schrage. We could sure use some younger involvement to see this club move forward and prosper. Petoskey SC is one of, if not THE oldest club in Michigan. Without involvement, the trails 'could' go away. There are no guarantees that they will be groomed by the DNR. So if you've been riding the fence about getting involved, now is the time. Grab a friend, a spouse or partner, and come volunteer your time. The club depends on it.
If ya need an excuse to get out and do something, just a reminder that brushing trails is a year round task. Feel free to get out and clean up anything you can as it won't be long and the season will be upon us.
From the desk of our President:
Important Snowmobile Club News First, administration for the Snowmobile Trails Grant program is being transferred to the DNR Parks and Recreation Division from the Forest Management Division. For now, the program will remain unchanged as we go through the transition over the next couple years.
Finally the details from the drawing on Saturday for all of those that weren't there and curious!
Barry Laughlin was the lucky winner of the Polaris Sportsman 4 wheeler. Thanks Barry for your support in our club, past, present, and future. Enjoy your ride!!
Get out and ride if you can. These low temps have made some nice, flat trails. Forecast going into next week looks gloomy including rain again.
Soo I-500 is underway at 10, 2 Wheel Tavern has a sip and paint event at 4, your favorite dinner spot is likely open too. Winterfest is coming up on the 18th and there'll be a vintage ride.
Don't forget, breakfast at the clubhouse tomorrow morning 8-12. Hope to see people out and about getting some fresh air and sights in!
A little mid-week humor for ya:
Per Groomer Tom: Trails in nice shape considering the snow we have. Some pix from grooming tonight:
Just wanted to jump on here and send a special THANK YOU to Mike Bishop for clearing the down tree. Now if we could only get some more snow, repeatedly, and some grooming regularly for some nice trails.
That Snow Dance event this weekend is approaching too:
Maybe learn the
Just cought up with weekend email, and theres a couple trees down here:
Ride with care till the groomers get them cleared up please.
We have a meeting tomorrow night, Tuesday the 10th at 7PM. Clubhouse on Evergreen Trail. Hope to see some of you extra folks come and get involved.
Grooming will be on hold while the warm temps persist. We need cold nights at or below freezing to groom and allow the trails to set up before use. A snow dance or 3 and wishes for cold weather are always appreciated.
Our Christmas gift to everyone is 2 more minutes per day daylight. I suggest you use it riding!
As of later today, ALL TRAILS will have been groomed in the past 24 hours. Listing as Fair to Good, there is a groomer out today. Be vigilant if you're out riding. If you see him, give Tom a 'Thumbs Up' to show your appreciation for his hard work.
Keep your fingers crossed that the warm up and threat of rain doesn't ruin the trails beyond repair before the freeze that will inevitably follow.
EDIT: after 7 hours grooming today, Tom sent us some photos of the trails and is done! "Could have went another 20 hours to try and whip them into shape better, but I'm pooped"
Remember--these volunteers (no pay mind you) have day to day jobs and STILL try to find the time to help out to make these trails happen. Please keep that in mind as you post your complaints and praises.
