Tips for a Healthy Cookout From traditional favorites to side dishes and desserts, grilling is a great way to add flavor to all types of food.
Meet Steve, our resident barn cat. He and his buddy, Petunia, help keep the rodents and snakes away, so we don’t have to use any chemicals. During his downtime, he enjoys belly rubs, taking walks down the driveway, and relaxing on the porch. I disturbed his nap today when I walked out the door. It’s a tough barn cat life on this farm.
These 7 Summer Fruits and Vegetables Are Healthy for Your Heart, According to Dietitians Seasonal produce offers tons of heart-health benefits. Consider these 7 fruits and vegetables when looking for a snack this summer.
My morning commute when living on a farm. Mow the fields, move the sheep, feed the animals, and water the plants, all before starting to see patients. Such is life as a dietitian and farm owner.
One of the biggest joys of owning this property is the ability to foster dogs. Meet Raven. She’s a 4-year old Shepherd who is looking for her fur ever home; however, I think she’s much younger. She has a ton of energy, very playful, is making great progress on manners, and full of love for her foster humans. She loves chasing balls and her squeak toys, and I think she would thrive in a home with an active family. I would keep her in a heartbeat, but she doesn’t like the sheep and gets great joy out of chasing chickens. She is great at chasing the fox away, though. She seems interested and playful with cats. If you or someone you know is interested, let me know, and I will connect you with the foster coordinator.
It’s sheep shearing time. Big Momma isn’t so big after all. I can’t get over the difference! All that wool and nursing two lambs makes for one skinny Big Momma. Lucky for her, we have extra grain ready.
A special thanks to Danielle, our shearing lady, and my neighbors. It definitely takes a village to manage a farm.
Kids in the Garden: A Nutritious and Fun Experience Planting a garden can be fun for the entire family and can have a positive impact on your child’s health. Learn how to get started and which plants are easiest to grow.
We had little visitors on the farm today. Love teaching and showing kids where food comes from, introducing our farm animals, digging in the dirt, collecting eggs, and looking for frogs in the spring house. The sheep and chickens seemed to enjoy the treats, too.
So excited to attend my first conference as a full-time private practice dietitian
It’s been a busy few weeks on the farm with 4 new lambs arriving. Clearly, it’s hard being a lamb here.
Keep your celebration going with our many resources, from tip sheets to handouts and games and more! 🎉

Apparently there is a farm Uber that I didn’t understand until now.
Some days my ladies amaze me. White egg is an extra large egg. Brown is what I call “ouch.”

A little snow doesn’t stop my ladies from laying. The beauty of January.
Christmas Eve brought an unexpected new member of the farm. Meet Eve. Earlier this year, I adopted 7 sheep, and they apparently came with extra members.

A Very Berry Summer Whether we're talking about blueberries, strawberries or raspberries, these sweet, colorful finger fruits are sure to make your toddler or preschooler happy.
I was told my 🍐 tree was dead and needed to be cut down. Guess nature has a way of healing itself, because this 3.5-gallon 🪣 is only half of my bounty this year. I need a taller truck, longer legs, or a bigger ladder for reaching the higher pears tomorrow. 😂 Now I have to figure out where to put all of these beauties to ripen, and then it’s time for crockpot pear sauce.

Forget Low-Fat and Low-Sugar, Concentrate on a Healthy Eating Pattern Some of today's popular diets say to cut sugar while others restrict fat. But rather than eating an exclusively low-fat or low-sugar diet, focus on your overall eating pattern.
