Hot Yoga Sutra is a hot yoga studio based on the Original Bikram Hot Yoga.
Also, we count with others types of Yoga, such as Yin Yoga, Hot Vinyasa and Hot Pilates. Grand opening 2022, at Garden Court Plaza, corner of Pine Street and 47th Street.
The man who made Bikram, Bikram, was his beloved and respected Guru, Sri Bishnu Charan Ghosh. Bikram does not get tired of mentioning his Guru when he is explaining something. He says I’m only forwarding his message. From the way he talks about his Guru one can feel the love and respect Bikram had for his teacher. Bikram says, “My Guru saved my life.”
"In the early 1930's, Yogananda and his youngest brother, Bishnu Ghosh, traveled together throughout the United States giving lectures and demonstrations of physical culture including bodybuilding and Hatha Yoga. At Yogananda's request my guru also started teaching Hatha Yoga at the Self-Realization fellowship. Ghosh inspired both children and adults to strengthen their bodies and minds. My guru also originated bodybuilding contests in America, founding the Mr. Universe contest and acting as it's chief judge in 1948. He was an Olympic judge, a member of the International Olympic Committee, and founder of the International Weightlifting and Body Building Federation. He also became a visiting professor at Columbia University, though he continued to return to India often in order to train yogis at his own school, Ghosh's College of Physical Education, in Calcutta."

Bikram says his Guru, Bishnu Ghosh saved his life by saving his knee. Bikram had weights fall on his knee in a contest which destroyed his knee. His guru rehabilitated and reconstructed his knee back to new with the healing practice of Hatha Yoga postures and breathing techniques. Whatever we have learned from Bikram, he says, they are all teachings of my guru.

Bikram Yoga is for every BODY.
Every type of body can practice Bikram Yoga no matter the shape, size, colour, gender or ability. Bikram says "You’re never too old, never too bad, never too late and never too sick to start from scratch once again.”
Whether you've been playing sports all your life or you've never played any sports in your life, whether you've been physically active or haven't had any experience in physical fitness, the genius sequence of the 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises will guide your mind and body through a moving meditation. You can start Bikram Yoga at any age and at any stage in your life. Your only job is to show up and do the best you can with the body that you have on that day and the yoga will take care of the rest. The biggest challenge is to show up. Then you have to remind yourself to breathe. Throughout the 90 minutes keep your eyes always open and breathing always normal; in the postures, out of the postures, during the postures and in between the postures. Progress slowly but surely by taking one breath at a time, one posture at a time, one class at a time. Practicing mindfully and with full awareness of exactly what you are doing will help you understand what this "yoga" is all about.
Bikram Yoga's number one priority is to heal. Building endurance, stamina and strength are secondary. A broken joint cannot be strong, it needs to heal first. Once it heals then it can work on strength and flexibility.

Yoga and mental health.
Two things absolutely linked together which absolutely work together.
More than ever, the importance of mental health can’t be emphasised enough. Yoga is as equally amazing for your mental health as it is for your physical health.
Yoga’s been proven to have positive effects for people with various mental health conditions, such as anxiety, stress, ADHD, and depression.
This in turn can decrease physiological arousal, helping to reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, and ease respiration.

Today is Rumi Day, celebrated annually on Rumi's birth date, September 30th. This day commemorates the life and writings of the poet Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, or Rumi.
Throughout his lifetime, it is said that Rumi wrote over 70,000 lines of poetry, almost entirely in Persian, which are captured in two epic volumes containing thousands of poems. Rumi's first collection, “Divan-e Shams-e Tabrizi,” took him approximately 15 years to finish. Even though Rumi died in 1273, his writings have been influential ever since. (poets.org)

About Hot Yoga Sutra
We are a hot yoga studio based on the Original Bikram Hot Yoga. Especially in this times, we want hot yoga to remain accesible for everyone. That is why we offer the cheapest practice in Philadelphia and a shorter session than Original Bikram Hot Yoga: our practice lasts 50 minutes.
In this moment, we offer an online practice. We are in the process of opening a new studio where we can continue practicing as a community.. If you want to colaborate with us for that, we are also recibing donations.
