FSFCCP represents 1,000 faculty and staff who serve over 26,000 students at four campuses in Philly
This is the page of the Faculty and Staff Federation of Community College of Philadelphia (FSFCCP). Our Union (AFT Local 2026) represents approximately 1,800 faculty and staff members and is organized into three bargaining units: Classified Employees, Full-time Faculty and Part-time Faculty/Visiting Lecturers. We are affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, an AFL-CIO union, with AFT-Pennsylvania, and with the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.
From the window, to the Walz!
"On the higher ed front, he is known as someone who believes in the importance of postsecondary education and investing in the state’s public colleges and universities."
Tim Walz has backed free college, big higher ed investments The second-term governor and former high school teacher is known as someone who believes in the power of education.
We won a $5 million increase in funding from the City of Philadelphia! This pushes City funding of our operating budget from $35 million to $40 million. We just secured the largest year-over-year increase in City funding in the College's history!
How did we challenge decades of underfunding that has been paid for by students and workers? Our members joined together with community groups, students, and City Council members to say: WE NEED MORE investment in Philly's college.
The initial City budget proposed no increases for CCP's operating budget. We asked Dr. Generals to join us in asking for more funding, and he refused. President Generals and CCP's Board of Trustees asked the City of Philadelphia for a mere $500,000 to support dual enrollment. Our win shows the power of faculty, staff and students fighting together and taking a first step towards building a College where students and workers can thrive.
We need full staffing, living wages, smaller class sizes, increased student services, on-campus childcare and free transportation for students and employees, and so much more! The next step is to demand that this additional funding be used to agree to our bargaining proposals that address these issues.
Help us hold the College accountable to using the additional funding we won for the changes we need in our contracts.
Next stop: Harrisburg, where we hope Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro will make good on his promise to increase funding for PA community colleges by 15% (and without undoing that promise with the proven failure that is outcomes based funding).

Our Co-Presidents Rainah Chambliss and Junior Brainard were glad to celebrate University of the Arts faculty's hard-won first contract, and look forward to celebrating again when the UArts staff's contract is complete (UArts has been stalling on this for almost 2 years, and they need to get back to the bargaining table). Congrats to United Academics of Philadelphia and everyone involved in this win. Philly is a union town!
