Meet Kevin! Kevin has been working at Wawa for the past 7 years. He recently transferred to another store that is closer to his home that gives him the opportunity to further his career with Wawa. Kevin was recently recognized by his manager Barbara and was awarded "goose bumps" which are a part of the awards system at Wawa.

Today Joe and Lori attended a Voters Information Day held by Vision For Equality's Philadelphia Parent Support Groups (PPSG), EnVision New Possibilities and Speaking for Ourselves. They were given a chance to see how the voting machines work, learn about absentee voting, receive training on voting issues and more! Thank you to everyone who helped put on this day providing important resources for our Voters!

The ODP Leaders were here to celebrate Heather Radcliffe, SPIN Community Participation Support team member, who received the 1,000th National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals eBadge Academy (NADSP) DSP certification in Pennsylvania. Through the NADSP E-Badge Academy, Heather and many other DSPs at SPIN, are earning nationally recognized DSPs Certifications.

A celebration took place in the SPIN Community & Fitness Theatre with words of recognition from Deputy Secretary Ahrens, Jeremy Yale and SPIN CEO, Judy Dotzman. Heather shared her appreciation and spoke about the importance of learning and development and the professionalization of the field of Direct Support Professionals. After celebrating together, a discussion was held on the importance of credentialing for the Direct Support workforce. Thank you to Deputy Secretary Ahrens, Jeremy and Zander for prioritizing and recognizing the essential role of Direct Support Professionals and to SPIN’s Learning & Development and SPIN Community & Fitness teams for planning such an important day!

SPIN Direct Support Professional Nick Smith was in Harrisburg today advocating for the general assembly to pass the Governor’s budget. Thank you to Rep. Stephen Kinsey and PA State Rep. Doyle Heffley for your support.

For over two decades Renzo has been participating in Equine Therapy at Equi-librium Renzo and his parents agree that this has been the most important therapy he has. Since 2,000, Renzo has participated in adapted riding, carriage driving, and equine assisted movement which all bring him great joy. Renzo lights up when he sees his horses, his instructors, and the volunteers.

This year, Renzo was honored at Equi-librium's Derby Day's with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations Renzo!

Today might be the first day of summer, but SPIN kicked theirs off last week with the return of Summer Bash! Two parties were held for the Lehigh and Philadelphia area where everyone was able to get together to enjoy great food, games and spending time with friends.

Happy Juneteenth! SPIN's Juneteenth Celebration gave Staff and the people we support the chance to learn more about the history of Juneteenth, dance to music by DJ Hot Sauce and the SPIN Choir, and enjoy water ice and pretzels while trying to stay cool. The SPIN Community loved having this chance to come together to celebrate this important day!
