The Zone may have been cleared of tents but the homeless remain with us and in the summer their miseries multiply and so do the deaths. The work at Andre House literally is life saving.

Hail, true Body, born
of the Virgin Mary,
truly suffered, sacrificed
on the cross for mankind,
from whose pierced side
flowed water and blood:
Be for us a foretaste of the Heavenly banquet
in the trial of death!
Ave verum corpus, natum
de Maria Virgine,
vere passum, immolatum
in cruce pro homine
cuius latus perforatum
fluxit aqua et sanguine:
esto nobis prægustatum
in mortis examine.

“If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet,
you ought to wash one another’s feet.” (John 13: 14). Join us in a radical obedience to our Lord’s command as we welcome and honor all our brothers and sisters.
Join us on March 28 as we take the tradition of the 'Washing of the Feet' outdoors! This year, in addition to the Holy Thursday liturgy, we extend this sacred gesture to our homeless brothers and sisters. From 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., deacons, religious sisters, and volunteers will wash the feet of the homeless at three stations outside the basilica.
If you feel called to serve or assist with logistics for this event, please reach out to Joyce Coronel at [email protected] or call 480-239-6768. Let us come together in humility and love as we follow the example of our Lord. 🙏
Here is our Liturgical Schedule for Holy Week. Please make sure to mark your calendars. We look forward to seeing you!
The Fifth Sunday of Lent begins the period traditionally known as Passiontide, which covers the last two weeks of Lent. It is an ancient tradition to cover statues and images with purple linens. In Passiontide, we cover over not only the statues, but also the eyes of our heart. We quiet our senses, our vision, our hearing, so that when we descend with the Lord into the mysteries of his Passion and death, our hearts are perceptive and more attuned to the darkness. And when the glorious Paschal light shines into the darkness of the Easter night, how much more radiant it will be!
