Nina is a super sweet, happy girl who loves everyone she meets. She gets along with all 5 dogs (big and small) in her foster home. She loves to sleep under the covers next to her human. Nina is completely housebroken but does not use the (super large) dog door in her foster home but will let you know when she has to go potty. Nina is not a barker but does alert to people outside but does stop barking when asked. She loves car rides and is excellent in the car when traveling long distances. Nina would love a home where she is the center of attention and would enjoy walks weather permitting. She loves toys but will need “chew proof” since she tends to want to eat what she tears off instead of spitting it out. Other than toys she is not destructive at all. Nina was diagnosed with a mild case of heartworm after she was surrendered for a second time so she will need to be on heartworm medication for the rest of her life. Since Nina has been bounced around (3 times that we know of) her foster mom wants her next home to be her forever home and will only consider a “perfect fit” home for Nina. He still has a ways to go but our vets have been working hard on figuring out all his medical issues and finding him the right medications. We are so happy to see how far he has come because of his amazing fosters. If you would like to foster you can click the link azsmalldog.org/foster

Last week we received an email from Pima Animal Control asking for help for 2 pregnant mamas in Tucson. They were at home of a hoarder and could not get the girls until a rescue could take. We immediately found a foster for both and another foster drove to pick them up. When our driver arrived we were told they were both due in about 1 week. We welcomed sweet girls Jasmine and Bella Saturday. Between late Wednesday and early morning Thursday Jasmine gave birth to her 5 healthy pups.

Nina Keller is a tiny 5 pound, 6 year old, spayed female chihuahua who is a happy girl and loves everyone. She is good with people and other small dogs, cats unknown. Nina loves to cuddle and will be your shadow. She is definitely a lap dog and will snuggle with you all day. She is housebroken in her foster home, but may need some time to adjust in a new environment. She walks well on a leash with a harness. Nina has dry eye in her left eye and needs tacrolimus ointment 4 times a day as well as over the counter lubricating eye drops in between as often as possible. Dolly is all puppy!!!! She’s energetic, curious about her surroundings, and always on the move. She loves running around and playing with stuffed toys especially ones that squeak and crinkle. Her new home can’t have too many toys! She will thrash them around and make them squeak endlessly. She likes exploring the yard at her foster home and sitting in the sun. Her curiosity can lead her to things that she shouldn’t play with but she takes correction well and has not been destructive in her foster home. Sebastian is a spicy little terrier who loves to run and play! He can take a bit to warm up, but once he does he is a cuddly and affectionate little guy. While he is happy to snuggle up in bed, he also likes to stay busy and could play tug endlessly! His future home will need ample toys - he loves rope tugs, stuffies, nylabones… basically anything he can tug, chew, or chase. Sebastian is very smart and trainable, and would thrive with someone who wants to do lots of activities with him. He can be sensitive about handling, but is very clear about his boundaries, so his people do need to be respectful of that while continuing to work on cooperative care with him (his foster mom will happily teach you how!).
