π Building Confidence: Teaching Kids How to Regrip Golf Clubs! π
At First Tee - Pittsburgh, we're dedicated to providing our young golfers with the foundational skills they need to succeed both on and off the course. This week, Coach Aaron showed a few of our junior golfers an essential aspect of equipment maintenance: regripping golf clubs!
ποΈββοΈ Why is Regripping Important?
The condition of the grip can significantly impact a golferβs performance. A properly regripped club offers better control, improved accuracy, and increased confidence in their swing.

Our junior golfers are learning:
- How to remove old grips and prepare the club for new ones.
- Techniques for applying new grips correctly.
- Tips for maintaining their grips to ensure longevity and performance.

Come join us at our family-friendly tournament. An βinvitationalβ is a type of golf tournament where the competitors are limited to those who have been issued an invitation or met pre-set criteria to qualify.
Each player competes against others in their division, with the lowest score winning the tournament. There are no teams, handicaps, or special rules, and each player plays their own ball.
Bring Pap, bring Uncle Joe, bring Aunt Carolβeveryone is invited to come and walk the golf course while our First Tee participants showcase what theyβve learned at our clinics.
The summer invitational is a memorial to Andy Hay, a talented amateur golfer who competed in Western Pennsylvania State and National events. He was a 1996 graduate of North Catholic High School and attended Campbell University on a Division I golf scholarship. Sadly, Andy passed away in 2014 while living in Ohio Township. Andy was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

ππ The First Tee - Pittsburgh team triumphed in the Northern Junior Interclub match at Shannopin Country Club yesterday against Butler Country Club, Shannopin Country Club, and Wildwood Golf Club! Par was 212, and they finished at -6 overall. Special shoutout to Michael Quallich and Anthony Knouse, who were an impressive -10!
The 17U teams played 18 holes in a two-player scramble while the 13U teams played 9 holes in a two-player scramble.

ποΈββοΈ Teen Academy Royal Troon Hole 8 Postage Stamp Challenge
Inspired by the iconic Hole 8 at Royal Troon from The Open Championship, our teens took on the Postage Stamp Challenge with a tough 22 mph crosswind. π¬οΈβ³ Lucian emerged victorious, hitting it closest to the pin! Congrats, Lucian, on a truly remarkable shot!

π Congratulations to Anthony Knouse for being selected for the 2024 First Tee Game Changers Academy Honoring Joe Louis Barrow, Jr.! π
Anthony will join other inspiring teens in Minneapolis, MN, from July 9 β 13, 2024, for a five-day learning and empowerment academy. Participants will engage in important conversations on self-awareness, inclusivity, and community building, facilitated by First Tee and RISE, a national leader in social justice within the sports community.
Through interactive workshops and activities led by nationally trained First Tee coaches, Anthony will build self-awareness, collaborate with others, grow through challenges, and enhance his golf skills. This experience is designed to enlighten, inspire, and equip our teens to be change agents in their current and future communities.
We are incredibly proud of Anthony for earning this opportunity and can't wait to see the impact he will make as a fearless champion of change! π
