Our Story

Our mission is to prevent and treat child abuse by strengthening families. Everything we do is focused on creating a better future for our children. We provide families and neighborhoods the tools they need to keep children safe, prevent abuse, manage conflict, and support the changing needs of families.

Envisioning and achieving a better future for children requires a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to strengthening families. Our resources, tools, and programs focus on prevention, intervention, and treatment at 19 locations across the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Here, we are able to provide the right services, at the right time, for the families we serve.

Our culture at Family Resources is marked by our trauma-informed approach to providing care. We understand the impact of exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which are traumatic experiences in a personā€™s life occurring before the age of 18. We know how important the prevention of, and healing from, these experiences are for strengthening families - studies have shown that as the number of ACEs a child experiences increases, so does the likelihood of health problems later in life. Trauma-informed care provides us with the right culture and tools to address the critical needs of out clients.
