Did you know that the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh and our affiliated IMPACT Club have adopted a stretch of highway in Oakland? Yup, we did! We're holding our first clean up on Saturday. Meet us at 9 am at the AJ Palumbo S&T Center, Carlow University, 3301 Forbes Ave. We will plan to spend two hours cleaning up litter. However, if you can only stay for one hour or even just 30 minutes, we'd still love to have you come out and join us! Saturday morning looks to be warm and delightfully steamy so bring water! We will have supplies, including plastic gloves and trash bags!
Join the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh this evening at Federal Galley on the North Shore within Nova Place at 5:30 pm. Come out and socialize with fellow Rotarians and make new friends and connections! Hope to see you there!

The Rotary Club of Pittsburgh said “thank you” to outgoing President George Robinson II last night at a wonderful dinner at Emerald City. We were especially delighted to be joined by incoming Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick whose remarks inspired us to reaffirm our commitment to serving our communities and to each other. She reminded us that each Rotary Club is different and to reflect on how our Club can meet the needs of each of us - and future Rotarians.
We so appreciate Stephanie joining us last night. As George mentioned in his remarks, she also joined us a year ago as we celebrated former President Babs Sefiane. It’s truly an honor that Rotary International’s next President is from our region!
We also want to give a shout out to our fellow Rotarian Gary White for the delicious catering from Fogo de Chao!

Hear from RCP President George Robinson about our Ohio River clean up service project!
Leave it better than you found it! Great turnout this morning from our RCP and IMPACT members along with family and friends for an Ohio River cleanup! We partnered with ORSANCO and Rotary Clubs down the Ohio River through Illinois on this important project! We collected 25 bags of trash, walked about 5 miles, and took more than 150,000 steps this morning! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our club and community!

Did you know that 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifeime? And that there's an estimated 35,000 in the Pittsburgh region who have seizure that are not being completely controlled? Peggy Beem Jelley, CEO of the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA, spoke at our lunch meeting yesterday and shared fascinating information about this condition and various ways that people can manage it. Two of her most important pieces of information: if someone is experiencing a seizure, roll them onto their side to keep their airway clear and never, ever put something into the person's mouth.
RCP had a wonderful team of volunteers and walkers at this morning’s MS Society Walk at the Point. Even with some re-routing due to flooding, it was a great morning!
A wonderful Sunday at the District 7305 Rotary Foundation luncheon! RCP was well represented with two tables - and both tables won desserts in the dessert auction (Table 8 may have been outbid Table 7, but who’s counting? LOL) We enjoyed a super yummy chocolate chip cheesecake and a decadent coconut cream cake. And the auction raised $46K for the Foundation!
Thank you, Laura Bright, for speaking at our lunch meeting today about Hekima Place! Laura, an RCP member, is the nonprofit’s executive director, and she talked about its invaluable mission to provide a home, an education, and the foundation for a successful life to girls in Kenya.
Join us Wednesday, April 3, for our regular lunch meeting where we'll hear from Laura Bright, the executive director of Hekima Place, a nonprofit organization that provides a home, a supportive and nurturing environment, an education, and a family to girls who have been orphaned in Kenya. The children who are brought into this caring embrace are among the most vulnerable in the world, may of them having been orphaned due to the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS. Hekima Place is a shining light in a dark world, and gives these children a home where they can learn what they need to thrive in life.
Our meeting begins at noon at the Omni Wiliam Penn Hotel. Register for the lunch meeting at the link below.
Lots happening at our lunch today! S&T Bank CEO Chris McComish spoke about his bank’s presence in our community and provided a hopeful forecast for next year’s financial position overall. We also inducted new members! Please join us in welcoming our new members Cole Lennon, Paul Hebblethwaite, Lannette McWilliams, and Ruth Moore!
