Wilkinsburg School District's Pre-K Counts is a free, full-day program for 3 and 4-year-olds. Students for the 2024-25 school year must be 3 by September 1, 2024, and potty trained. The Pre-K Counts Program offers small class sizes, monthly field trips, family engagement opportunities, and special area classes. Do you have a child that is turning 5 by or on September 1, 2024? If so, it’s time to register them for Kindergarten! Join the Wilkinsburg School District on May 14th at Kelly Primary from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. for their Kindergarten Registration Event! There will be building tours, community partners, and freebies to take home! Stop by to register your child for Kindergarten and meet the Wilkinsburg staff.

Prepare your child for Kindergarten all in one place! At this event, we'll offer readiness screenings and will have vital information on hand regarding summer support and assistance for the upcoming school year. Our team and registrar will be available to answer questions and talk to you about the services and resources available. Various community organizations like Metro Community Health Center and the Wilkinsburg Public Library will also be present to connect with parents. We can't wait to see you there!

The Allegheny County Health Department has confirmed its first case of mpox of the year. If you would like to schedule an appointment for the mpox vaccine, visit our website at metrocommunityhealthcenter.org and click on the mpox tab. We also provide treatment, so call our office if you have symptoms or think you may have been exposed!

Due to issues with the air conditioning and high temperatures in the building, Metro will closing our office at 11:00am today (7/6) and moving all appointments to telehealth (if applicable).

Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) is caused by a virus related to the virus that causes smallpox. While the current risk of contracting mpox is low, anyone can get it.

The best way to lower your risk is to get vaccinated! If you would like to schedule your vaccine, visit our website at: metrocommunityhealthcenter.org and click on the Mpox tab at the top of the page. The vaccine is a 2-dose series, scheduled 4 weeks apart.
