Charlotte 9/19/2024
Charlotte’s week has been all about social skills and behavior. She barks at everyone and everything and
she is a runner. Fast & furious. She is beginning to play more with toys.
She had her vet exam and was given an A. Amazingly, she was very well behaved, no barking, growling or excitability with people & pets coming & going. She allowed the doctor to examine her and was a champ
for her vaccine. He did recommend a dental to keep her on the right path.
We hope to see an improvement in her interactions with her foster brothers. We are still a work in progress.
Charlotte is staying in Chesapeake, VA. for more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

All my friends tell me I should adopt Ruff. He certainly is happy here. His favorite game is chasing the balls but he also loves his other squeaky toys and sometimes reminds me of a dragon in its lair hoarding the toys. We took him to a fair in a local park on Sunday and he was as good as gold. A young child wanted to pet him and he was so gentle with her allowing her to pet him and eventually giving her little licks to show his appreciation. He is a joy to foster and lots of fun to have around. Ruff is located in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, for more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

Posh and Becks are a playful pair of puppies not quite 2 years old. They love to play all day! They enjoy being outdoors and love exploring in our fenced in yard. It's their favorite thing! Both enjoy playing a good game of fetch however Posh is always the winner and if Becks does once in a while retrieve the ball first, she is not happy! They love to take several walks a day and do really well on leash and each walk gets better. They do still pull when they see a bird or squirrel but being 4 lbs., they are easy to control and redirect. One thing we have learned is Posh is not good with other dogs. She is definitely an alpha dog and will want to establish her place in the pack. The best for these two would be that they are the only two in the home and believe me they would be enough Yorkie for anyone! They are both very sweet and loving little ones, love to be held and cuddled. Belly rubs are a must! They are early risers and raring to go. You need to active to keep up. They sleep soundly through the night and have hearty appetites. They are house trained. Becks is neutered and Posh was spayed on Friday. They are bonded and will not be separated. They love each other and will bring anyone lucky enough to become their forever family a lifetime of love, joy and happiness. My birthday wish for them is to be with their forever family to celebrate their second birthday in their forever home. Becks and Posh are being foster in Brick, New Jersey. They will require a fenced yard and training would be recommended. They are staying in Brick Nj, for more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

Sonny and Cher's adventure continued its brisk pace this week. Their foster parents went out of town for some silly wedding so our dynamic duo got to stay at a very fancy puppy spa and sleepaway camp. Sonny and Cher both received high marks from puppy camp and there were no issues during their three day stay.

In other news, Cher once again jumped into the bathtub to make sure she was close to her brother while he was getting a bath. They are very well behaved for bath time and sit patiently while getting washed. Sonny meanwhile was SO EXCITED to be on a walk that he walked face first into the side of a recycling bin, so after a foster family meeting we've decided to give up on him winning a Rhodes Scholarship.

Sonny and Cher are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They are very affectionate, goofy, and well behaved little shadows who will follow you everywhere. Sonny is 15 pounds and Cher is 11 pounds. They are staying with Jenna in Buffalo, NY.

Becks and Posh are new to rescue. They are a bonded pair of 2-year-old Yorkies. They are littermates' brother and sister. They are tiny tots just 4 pounds. But don’t let their pint size fool you as they are very active little pups. Posh is definitely the boss lady and Becks is a little sweetheart. They both love to snuggle up with you and never leave your side. They are smart and have learned much since their arrival in to rescue. They came wearing diapers and are now house trained. They have learned to walk on leash and a doing really well. They come when called and are learning some basic commands. They are very affectionate and will smother you in sweet puppy kisses! They love to play in outdoors. I think it is their favorite place to be. Posh is ball obsessed and loves to fetch. Becks does too however it seem Posh always seems to come up with the ball. Poor Becks. They had never been seen by a vet or a groomer. So, their first visits were just this week and although they were nervous and scared, they did well. They are healthy and happy little ones. They deserve the love and support of great owners who will love them and treat them like family. Anyone with lots of love and a fenced in yard to give to this sweet pair will be rewarded tenfold with loyalty and lots of puppy love. Becks and Posh are being foster in Brick, New Jersey. Charlotte has been with us just over a week. She was 2 years old in June and now weighs 14lbs. She was very timid and a little skittish about noises and her foster brothers. She appears a little intimidated by our 17-year-old Yorkie Teddie and It took a while for Charlotte and Toby, who is four, to warm up to
each other. On the first day she made herself at home on the couch and stared at us as if checking us out. She slowly warmed up and decided it was safe to lie next to us. I am her favorite person; she will respond to me more than my husband at this point.
She follows me everywhere and waits patiently for my next move. She eats well and has not shown any food aggression, sometimes I must tell her it is okay to eat. Initially she showed no interest in toys but is just beginning to toss one around here and there.
She likes her walks and pulls a little at the start but walks well with her foster brother, Toby.
We are working on her reaction to people and pets she sees and hears, she will bark and growl a bit. She seems to understand when I tell her “It’s okay” and she goes on her way.
We had two poo accidents in the first couple days, and they were at the door.
Now she knows and her signal is to come to me and grumble when she needs to go. She enjoys exploring our backyard.
She loves to be up high and is a great jumper. One of our chairs was a little close to the breakfast bar and we found her lying on the counter for a better view of the front door. We moved the chair, problem solved, but if an opportunity arises, she will take it.
She barks & growls at new people coming into the house until I tell her it is okay. Trying to run out the front door and jumping are works in progress.
But overall, she is a very calm 2-year-old.
She is spayed but needs some vaccines and maybe a dental. We have a vet appointment next week for a checkup.
Charlotte is fostered by Dani and Jeff Hudgens in Chesapeake, VA. For more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

We were told Ruff and Tumble were bonded upon their arrival into rescue. Clearly this proved not to be the case. The two boys did not get along at all. Although good with other dogs they simply just didn’t get along with each other. In order to meet their needs, we thought it best to try separating the two. This was shown to be the best solution. The two are now thriving in their foster homes. Both are very happy and looking for wonderful forever families to love them. As they have so much love to give! ❤️

If you are looking for your shadow, look no further! Tumble is a great companion. He is an easy going 7 year old male Yorkie with excellent potty manners. He is looking for his forever home. if you are looking for a great companion, complete an application at www.saveayorkierescue.org

Ruff is the best dog! Three of my friends think his name should be Bernie because he is so adorable. He plays “chase me with the ball.” He snuggles up on the sofa. He only barks when someone is at the door. He …
… He likes his walks but likes to play more. Ruff will be a perfect companion for someone who is looking for a cute addition to their family. Ruff is fostered by Sam Milford and Richard Shaw in Pittsburgh, PA for more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

Reine is a sweet lovable laidback yorkie boy. He is 8 years old and weighs 17 pounds. He is doing very well with his potty training and he is also learning simple commands like sit and stay. He will do well as an only dog or in a family with another small dog. He loves going for a walk and riding in the car. He likes to perch himself on the back of the couch and enjoys lying on the window bench to watch the birds and butterflies. He sleeps all night in his bed and has a healthy appetite. He is having his teeth cleaned today and is ready for adoption.

Update on Leah Sept 11:

Leah is doing great. She’s very active! I think her “off switch” was removed when she was spayed. She plays, and plays and plays. She knows the second I wake up in the morning and is right in my face ready to go. She’s still a chow hound and I’ve got to make sure she’s not scarfing down the other dogs’ food. I’ve had one email on her but nothing promising. Their loss! I’m enjoying her antics except maybe stealing shoes, shredding paper and overdoing giving kisses! Leah is staying in Pittsburgh Pa and for more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

McGuyver is staying in Elkton, MD

McGuyver has had a good week so far! We have a new addition to our household - a young cat! We had been caring for him as a stray and decided to keep him. After getting all the necessary vetting and shots, we introduced the cat to our dogs. McGuyver has been doing well and is super curious! He follows the cat around, studying his movements and waiting for an opportunity to play. The cat is very neutral and has adjusted well to our small pack of dogs! I can now add that from this experience so far, McGuyver has the potential to be in a house with a cat! McGuyver continues to do well with training and welcoming guests into our home. My mom and dad visited the other day and he was a ball of excitment! He gave nonstop kisses to my mom and was happy to have the company. For more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

Important news bulletin regarding Cher! This week her foster dad got her The Perfect Toy. It's a stuffed weiner dog wearing a Captain America outfit that BOTH crinkles and squeaks. It immediately became her favorite toy and she brings it with her everywhere, often turning back to get it when she sees we are going into a new room. We call the toy "Mister Murica" and it will be following Cher and her brother to their eventual forever home. Cher just knows her furever pawrents are out there somewhere!

Sonny meanwhile has perfected the art of keepaway to get his sister to play with him. He seems to be more of a DC fan, though. Sonny's favorite toy is a plushy Batman comic that crinkles really well. Anyway, the puppy battles between Sonny and Cher over these toys are full of WHAMs, KAPOWs, and even a couple BAMs! All in good fun, of course.

Both dogs love to snuggle, burn lots of energy on walks, and follow you wherever you go. Cher and Sonny are 4 year old bonded siblings being fostered in Buffalo, NY. Sonny is 15 lbs and Cher is 12 lbs. For more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org.

McGuyver had a pretty laid back week! He’s really enjoying the cooler weather coming in! He loves to spend time laying in the grass or relaxing on the deck as he listens to nature. We had a dog board with us for a week and McGuyver did very well with our guest. He enjoyed playing and getting all of his energy out with his new buddy! McGuyver is the best of both worlds - has lots of energy to be expressed through training, playing, and exercising, but also enjoys his down time to chew on a bone or snuggle on the couch. He gets along very well with the other dogs in the household and loves to sit right at my feet if I’m grooming a client’s dog, which is done from my home.

Not much new for Candace this week. She continues to be the awesome little lady she usually is. I can’t say enough good things about her. If you're looking for someone to keep you company, that’s Candi. If you’re looking for someone to take a walk with, that’s Candi. If you’re looking for someone to go on a drive with, that’s Candi. If you’re looking for someone to have lunch or dinner with, that’s Candi. If you’re looking for a snuggle bug, that’s Candi. Wherever you go - she goes. All she wants is to be with you!

Sonny and Cher bonded siblings who turned 4 in August and are being fostered in Buffalo, NY. Sonny is 15 lbs and Cher is 12 lbs.

What an action packed week for our boy, Sonny! So many walks, so many adventures, so many games of keepaway with his sister. On one of the walks he saw a giant crow and ran after the bird but it flew away never to be seen or heard from again. And then, you would not believe what happened on our walk the next day. Sonny. Saw. A. Squirrel.

Needless to say, Sonny ran right after the squirrel. Our boy Sonny chased that rodent under a parked car but then woah, like magic, the squirrel was gone. Sonny checked under the car so many times and there were no signs of the gray furred creature. Sonny's sister Cher was no help of course because she was just looking up at some silly tree on the other side of the car. Oh Cher, she just doesn't understand what it takes to be an apex predator.

On Cher's end, she also had a great week. Lots of walks and tons of belly time. On one of the walks she saw her brother chase a crow but then the crow flew up onto a branch and a stick fell near Sonny! It missed but it gave Cher the spookies despite Sonny not seeming to even notice. On another walk, she saw Sonny chase a squirrel under a parked car but the squirrel was too fast so it just ran right up a nearby tree. On subsequent walks, Cher has made sure to check that same tree for any signs of the squirrel.

Things are going very well for these two. Potty training has been outstanding and there are rarely any accidents anymore. They sleep through the night and have equal love for playtime and cuddles.

Update on Leah Sept 4:

Leah continues to be a happy little live wire of a “puppy”. I don’t believe she’s nine years old. She still has so many puppy behaviors - like chewing on fingers and my chin! She’s a big kisser so be aware! She sleeps through the nite and so far she’s not much of a barker. She’s a lot of dog packed in a little body! A precious love bug!

Candace has settled in nicely and doing well. She continues to be a very special girl! She has now mastered her “inside voice” when she gets really excited. Being a household of little to no barking it was something we’ve been working on. I think the next task will be “sit.” She knows “come” and “stay or wait” but that seems to be it. Other than that, she is a joy to have around. She is always happy and just wants to be part of your family! Do you have room in your family for a very sweet, loving, good little girl? She will bring you much joy and happiness!

Candi is 9 years old and about 14 lbs. She is being fostered by Deb, Becks and Lanie in Phoenixville, PA. for more information please go to www.saveayorkierescue.org

McGuyver is being fostered by Olivia in Elkton, Maryland. After a couple months of behavioral training, McGuyver is now available to find his forever home! McGuyver, nicknamed Mikey, is 2 years old with lots of love to give! His favorite pastimes are playing with the other dogs in the household, chewing on a bone, or snuggling with his human. He was transferred to our foster home for training in dog boundaries and reactivity to human men. Since being with us, McGuyver gets along beautifully with other dogs. Between the other four dogs in the household and the array of my clients’ dogs he sees weekly, McGuyver is happy to meet other dogs and respects their social boundaries. McGuyver is also MUCH more welcoming to male guests in our home. When he first got to us, he stayed in his crate or on leash around male guests in the home and would excessively bark at them for the entire duration of their stay. I have to give it to him - the boy’s persistent! Now, we can have any guest over and McGuyver has proved to be a wonderful host. He enjoys getting treats from guests and will play/snuggle with them too! He is very food motivated and excells in training. On a normal daily basis, McGuyver is pretty relaxed and goes with the flow of the home. He loves being outside and will get bursts of playful energy throughout the day. He also proves to be pretty independent and will occupy himself with a toy if I’m working or if the other dogs are done playing, etc.

McGuyver has had one unsuccessful adoption before being returned back to us. The Meet & Greet went very well and he was very welcoming to these guests in our home. But, once he was uprooted from this environment and in a new home, he was frightened and reverted back to some of his old ways by reacting towards the husband. He will require a special adopter who is willing to take on a challenge! McGuyver has every potential to warm up to any men in the home. It takes time for him to adjust to a new home and we are looking for an adopter who is able to work through that adjustment period with him. Ideally, he would thrive in a woman-only home and not require such an adjustment period since the issue is his behavior towards men. He bonds immediately to the women in the home. Male guests are easier for him to adjust to than a man living full time in the home.

McGuyver is such a sweet boy who was simply dealt a bad hand. His upbringing at puppyhood wasn’t great and it’s not his fault. Will you be his chance at a forever home?
