Coaches, players, parents and many more Arctic Foxes family members came out to celebrate the end of the 23-24 season at our annual banquet!

Our Events Director Bethany Klisavage knocked it out of the park again! There was a delicious buffet meal, presentations to coaches, unveiling of PAHL championship banners, door prizes for every player (and their siblings!), team tables to view, along with 25+ baskets for our basket raffle. We even had lucky winners go home with a signed Sidney Crosby jersey, Pens tickets that included a Zamboni ride, a custom made hockey stick chair and a custom made hockey stick headboard!

Thank you to all who attended and most importantly, all those who helped to make this event a tremendous success!

Delmont, PA: Arctic Foxes 18U2 Team took on the Allegheny Badgers 18U2 Team in their own barn in a tense showdown for the PAHL 18U- Finals. It was a tight, intense and fast paced. Midway through the 1st, the “Trio Grande” line started the scoring with Aaron Williams*(A) netting the goal from Shane Birkenfeld & Zach Bittner*. Shorthanded, the Badgers tied it a few minutes later. Deflated but determined that’s the way the first period ended.

Early in the second, it was Zachs turn to score assisted by Shane & CJ Wright(C). Stout defense by Ty Moeller, Jayden Garcha* and Evan Jennings along w/crease clearers Nathaniel Elek* & Braydon Dawson* kept it a one goal game. Solid board play by Nolan West* and Jack Dulski*, complimented by strong penalty killing of Noah Kenneweg* and “Freddy” Mitchell. Tommy Vidra kept Badgers goalie busy with his wicked shots.

Less than a minute to play and score still 2-1 Badgers pulled their goalie. With the extra attacker were able to tie it at 2 with 27 seconds left, sending the game in OT. A rough blow for the Foxes but they would not be deterred. Less than 2 minutes left in OT, Foxes got a powerplay however it was the Badgers who got a short-handed breakaway that led to a penalty shot. With 23 seconds remaining goalie Logan Cordle* came up huge with the save to extend the game. The 2nd OT started with the Foxes playing 4-3. Cale Makar doppelganger, Ryder Graff(A) skated an end-to-end, slipped through a check and dished off to CJ who put it on net. Aaron (broken thumb) toughed out the game and was able to jam home the rebound giving the Foxes a dramatic 3-2 victory!

Having two #1 goalies is a luxury we had w/Logan & Kirsten Lallone*. She played a critical role in other games and continued to help the team with her directions from the bench. Cheering along were injured Brandon Clark* and Jackson Kramer*(A) whose impact was missed. Also to be acknowledged is Nathan ‘Lil’ Bit’ who became the de-facto team equipment manager. Shout out to Roman Suriano who was unavailable. This group epitomized team play and were aptly rewarded. And 12 seniors got to play their last game, going out as champions.

Arctic Foxes PW1…..Hardened Champions!

Of course it wouldn’t be easy! One of the mantras of the PW1 team all season was “Winning is Hard!” Why would the playoffs be any different? Game 1 was against Lawrence, and we ended the first period down 0-3. They could have hung their heads, but instead, they went to work because they knew WINNING IS HARD! They won the game 4-3 in double overtime. These Foxes began to believe!

Game 2 was against regular season champion North Pittsburgh. North Pittsburgh took the lead twice during the game, but this Foxes team would not be denied and came out on top 5-3.

In the championship game they would face SHAHA, a team they lost to twice during the regular season. This time would be different! Late season suicides during each practice got them in shape for this run. IT REALLY WAS THEIR TIME! Although it was their second game of the day, they still had the legs to finish their improbable run with a 4-2 victory.

They were right…winning is hard…but with this group it was also so much fun. WAY TO GO FOXES! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!

Congratulations to the Arctic Foxes 16U Team Zerega for winning the regular season and playoff championship, finishing with a 17-1-4 record. The team finished with 92GF/26GA and a combined goalie save percentage of .936

In the two playoff games combined, the Foxes outshot their opponents 95-27.

In the semifinal game, goals were scored by #01 Shafer Hill, #89 Devin McBride (2), and #57 Evan Frank. Assists by #1 Roman Grandstaff(2), #20 Hunter Harrington, and #01 Shafer Hill. Foxes won 4-1 vs. SHAHA.

In the final game, an unassisted goal by #48 Zachary Williams tied the game at 1-1. With the score tied 1-1 and 45 seconds left in the third period, the Foxes were on the penalty kill facing a crucial faceoff in their own zone. The Johnstown Warriors won the faceoff and worked the puck towards the net. A centering pass was intercepted by #76 Alex Ciocca who cleared the zone and sent the puck towards the boards where #01 Shafer Hill made a move to score the GW shorthanded goal with 16 seconds left. The Foxes held on to win 2-1 vs. the Johnstown Warriors. Offense, Defense, PK/PP and Goaltending played great. Everyone contributed! Congratulations to all the Players, Coaches, Manager, and Parents for a Championship season!!
