I’ve been looking forward to a summer full of yoga classes and fun events, but life has a different path for me.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer and I’ll be taking the summer off from teaching yoga to take care of my health. My cancer is both highly treatable and curable. This diagnosis was very unexpected and is a big reminder that there is so much in life we cannot control; what we can control is how we respond to it. I’m responding by taking time to care for myself and trusting in my medical team to get me through this.

I know I will learn a lot along this journey and I’ll post occasional updates on my personal account, , if you’d like to follow along.

Thank you for supporting me and my small business this past year. I hope you have a wonderful summer and I looking forward to reconnecting in the fall!

Back in MN this week and loving this beautiful day today.

Outdoors in one of my favorite places to be. There is something about the fresh air, the sounds, and in the spring, the sights and feelings of new growth all around that makes me happy.

It took awhile for me to realize this. When things were busy with work and family I didn’t have as much time to appreciate being outside. Yoga has helped me slow down and notice how things feel in my body. It’s helped me recognize the little things that bring me joy and given me permission to trust my gut.

I offer yoga classes indoors, outdoors, for all ages and all experience levels. Let’s use yoga to help you slow down and find what makes you happy.

Seated Eagle Arm pose is great for stretching out tight shoulders. Give it a try:

Start from any comfortable seated position. Reach your arms out wide to either side. Bring your arms forward in front of you and cross your right arm under your left, crossing at the elbows. Bend your elbows to about 90 degrees and reach palms around to touch. Lift your elbows to chin height and hold for 5-10 breaths. Slowly release your arms, shake them out and repeat on the other side.

Seated Eagle Arm pose will look different for every BODY. Find what feels good for you:
- Sit in a chair.
- Bring backs of hands together instead of palms.
- Try bringing opposite hand to opposite shoulder instead of hands together.

Give this pose a try and notice how it feels in your body.

This Wide Leg Forward Fold pose is a great pose to stretch out tight hips and low back. Give it a try:

Start standing with legs in a wide leg stance, keep a small bend in your knees. Fold forward from your hips and bring hands down toward the floor. Try to let your head and whole upper body hang heavy. Hold for 10 breaths and slowly roll yourself back up to standing.

Wide Leg Stretch pose will look different for every BODY. Find what feels good for you:
- Keep a big bed in your knees.
- Bring hands to thighs or shins instead of to the floor.
- Try wrapping hands around behind the calves and drawn your chest closer to your legs.

Give this pose a try and notice how it feels in your body.

Tight hamstrings can cause pain and misalignment throughout the body.

This Half Split Pose is a great pose to try to stretch them out:

Start on hands and knees, slide your right leg out to the side and then forward. Bring the right leg between the hands and keep the leg extended long. Slowly lower chest down toward your right thigh to deepen the stretch. Hold for 10 breaths. Repeat on the other side by bringing the left leg forward.

Half Split Pose will look different for every BODY. Find what feels good for you:
- Place a blanket under the knees for more comfort.
- Start from kneeling on knees to move the legs forward.
- Use block or a stack of books under your hands to create extra space.
- Slightly bend your front knee to relax the stretch.

Give this pose a try and notice how it feels in your body.

Lunging poses help to stretch the hips and hamstrings. Stretching the hips helps improve your mobility and often can help with low back pain as tight hips can cause misalignment throughout the body.

This Low Crescent Lunge pose is a great pose to try:

From hands and knees, bring your right foot forward to the inside of your right thumb. Deeply bend your right knee so that the knee is aligned over your ankle. Start to lift your chest up and bring both hands to your front thigh. You can stay right here or you can reach your arms up overhead. Notice how you are feeling through the front of the left hip flexor. Take a few breaths here holding the pose. When you are ready, bring both hands back to the floor and send your right leg back to hands and knees position. Repeat on the other side by bringing the left leg forward.

Low Crescent Lunge will look different for every BODY. Find what feels good for you:
- Place a blanket under the knees for more comfort.
- Use block or a stack of books under the hands to bring the floor closer to you.

Give this pose a try and notice how it feels in your body.

Side stretching poses are common in yoga. These stretches help improve spinal mobility and flexibility which can ease back pain, improve posture, and prevent injuries.

This Wide Leg Side Stretch pose is a great pose to try:

From a seat, move your legs into a wide leg position. Take a breath in and on your exhale start to lean to your right, slide your right hand down your right leg toward your foot. Reach your left arm up and over to the right. Try to keep both hips planted on the ground. Take a few breaths here and notice where you are feeling this stretch. When you are ready bring yourself back to sitting straight and repeat on the left side.

Wide Leg Side Stretch will look different for every BODY. Find what feels good for you:
- Sit on a pillow or blanket for more comfort.
- Keep knees bent for tight hamstrings.
- Bring hand to the outside of the leg you are stretching toward (instead of hand on the leg).

Give this pose a try and notice how it feels in your body.
