UPDATE: Outage impacted hundreds of schools and businesses including all of LAUSD. Vandalism was discovered and repaired. We are monitoring for stability but remain up at this time.

District internet is currently down. Fiber crews have identified a break and are dispatching crews to start repairs.

UPDATE: The fiber vendor recorded the cause as: "Unknown: Mid-span fault" (at W 8th St and Benson Ave, Upland, CA.) They switched us over to a new pair on the same fiber optic cable. The vendor is making PUSD account changes to improve their response and our support as we begin planning our migration to the LACOE redundant connection.

ITS wanted to wish all the Fathers out there a Happy Fathers' Day! Here's a little incentive to put your phone down this weekend and just relax. ITS will be performing the bulk of our computer room move over the weekend and multiple services are expected to be down for the majority of the time. This will impact all on-premises networks and services. Students and staff will continue to have remote access to Zoom, Google, Clever, and other Instructional Applications. Update: All site's network connections have been restored.

Update: Fiber crew anticipates having all of their customers restored by 8 p.m. Pacific.

Update: The fiber crew just finished replacing 1500' of damaged cable. Splice teams are beginning to splice both ends. No ETR. We anticipate these 10 sites will be down for the rest of the day.

Update: There are currently a total of 10 sites down. Ganesha, Marshall, Arroyo, and PVC are currently up on an alternate connection but are experiencing bandwidth issues.

ITS is reporting several sites down. We are looking into the issue causing a loss of network at Cortez, Emerson, Kellogg, Lincoln, Park North, and Roosevelt. Check back here for status updates. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE: Internet is restored. Fiber crews repaired the break.

Fiber vendor found the break and is working on splicing the cable. Multiple customers are impacted by the outage reportedly caused by a rodent chew. We will be down for the rest of the night. Thank you for your patience.

PUSD Campuses are currently experiencing an internet outage due to faulty equipment at our Internet Service Provider. This outage is impacting multiple school districts and universities in the Southern California area. Crews are working on the equipment and expect to have services restored at midnight tonight. The ITS department is monitoring the network and will keep this post updated with the current status. Thank you for your patience!

Dear PUSD Staff:
Happy New Year and welcome back to the 2022-2023 second semester. I hope everyone had a restful winter break. As you return to your classroom or work location, we are encouraging everyone to check to make sure you have access to hand sanitizer, masks and/or other appropriate PPE. Due to COVID-19, we are strongly encouraging the wearing of masks while in-doors. We will also be sharing the same message with our students and families. Let us work together, stay focused, and prepare our students for future opportunities. Have a great second semester!

Fiber crews are scheduled to return tonight at 5:00PM to follow up on a couple issues. During this time there will be some brief interruptions to internet connectivity. The outage is expected to last less than 30 minutes.

Your dedicated ITS team will work with the fiber crew to cutover the 40+ network pathways to our new computer room on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. All services are expected to be restored by the end of the day. Monday is a District holiday so we don't anticipate the need for any accommodations. Please get in touch with the ITS department for assistance.
