♨️ Long known to be sacred by the Apache & Mimbres tribes of Southern New Mexico, the natural, odor-free, mineral-rich water of Riverbend Hot Springs has been healing beings for centuries.

Twin & I stayed in Las Cruces, driving up in the AM for our 12pm appointment time at the Private Pool called Rio, along the banks of the Rio Grande River.

However, upon arriving, we actually noticed plenty of options to stay in the city of Truth or Consequences itself besides Riverbend Resort (which was sold out when we called to book a room for the night)

If you plan ahead, we highly recommend to stay at Riverbend for a few nights off grid, taking advantage of all day access to the community pools, incredible atmosphere & other resort amenities ($350 daily value)

They claim to be the only hot springs in the area actually right on the river - which was incredibly relaxing and a huge plus atmosphere wise. Many of the other “hot springs” in the area are more of a bath house where as this felt like a resort version of a naturally occurring spring.

Arriving to the island via ferry last night was a perfect example of yoga off the mat 😅🕉

Travel Tip: If you’re staying for a week or more, reserve your tickets ahead of time & take the ferry. Skip the small plane (though a cool experience if you’re traveling light and/or for a short time as it’s only a 10 minute flight while the ferry is a 2.5-3+ hour “travel-like-the-locals experience” and may also protect you from possibly spending unnecessary extra money with the bag hassle of a large family or long trip.

That being said, you don’t need a lot of for Vieques! Fancy clothes & expensive jewelry likely won’t be worn unless you do a photoshoot. Just pack your patience if you choose to travel how the locals travel.

Post the governor mandated that tourists MUST purchase tickets online via poferry.com. Simply reserve the 5/10am or 7pm ferry at least a few days in advance and you’re almost guaranteed to miss the crowds & be allowed to board. The 7:30am, 1pm & 4:30pm are notoriously busy and if more locals need to get to work or home, you will end up waiting for the next ferry anyways.

Spend that extra time doing something else, but be sure to show up the hour ahead of departure time, just like flying.

It cost us $27 after tourist taxes & fees for 2 adults + pay per bag ) 3 large suitcases (one full of recording & yoga equipment)+ 2 backpacks (free,) 3 carry-on size suitcases, a cooler, & a large beach bag.

We actually manage to get around easily by turning the suitcases into one another & rolling 2 in one hand & one in the other, with the cooler & beach bag on top.

Also, be sure to reserve a car ASAP on the island if it’s important to you because there may not be any available even 3 days before you arrive.

In both Asana & Life... Anytime anyone swing against the stream of awareness, there will be frustration. You will experience much less frustration if you meet the moment where it’s at (just like your body during practice.)

Being present takes away the problem & leaves you with opportunity. 😉
