“I dedicate the merits of my practice, to the spiritual liberation of all sentient Beings. And, through this merit may I quickly reach enlightenment, and lead all Beings without any exclusions to the same state of consciousness.” — Universal Yoga Mantra of Vajrayana
What is and why is it important? The word "mantra" is derived from ; "mana" meaning "mind" and "ntra" meaning "instrument" or "tool." In yoga, we use mantra as a tool to focus the mind, specifically through our sense of hearing.
While there are infinite mantra with infinite meanings, some of the ways in which mantra focus the hearing channel and thus the mind are the sound and vibrational qualities of a specific mantra, the mantra’s specific meaning and intent, and the practice of mantra repetition.
The practice of focusing our hearing and the mind is another doorway into which we can realize and achieve the true purpose of yoga — realization of the true Self.
Are you looking to deepen your yoga practice? Are you curious about what yoga is really all about? Is your yoga practice evolving your consciousness?

What are you up to this Saturday morning? Come join and for a deeply nourishing and sound healing experience.
Why join a meditation and sound healing? Because it gives your mind, body, and spirit an opportunity to rest, recalibrate, and rejuvenate -- things that our busy lives don't always allow us to do. And, why would resting on a Saturday morning be beneficial? When your body starts to recognize the rest and rejuvenation it wants and deserves, you'll start spending your energy on the things that matter more in your life -- allowing less wholesome activities and behaviors to fall away.
All this from meditating and listening to beautiful singing bowls? Yep. Come join us to give it a try and see how you feel. Link in bio above to sign up. Oh, and don't forget to use the PROMO CODE SAVE5 to save $5.
What is yoga? Come to Nepal with and in 2023 to see for yourself what yoga is and what it isn't.

Know someone who might be interested in this retreat? Please share this post with them. 🙏🏻💜
Dear Yoga for Life Community, Friends, and Practitioners,
We can all likely agree that the past few years have been some of the most challenging in recent memory and possibly in our lifetimes. As with all challenges, there's the moment when we start to dig out from the rubble, rise up, and reconnect to who we truly are and what we need to become.
While the Yoga for Life studio in Northeast Portland closed in July 2021, we are reviving an intentional community aligned with what is most meaningful for us about yoga (1) classes that challenge and evolve our practice, (2) internal explorations including meditation and internal practices, (3) yoga training programs, and (4) international yoga retreats.
If these activities are meaningful in your yoga journey, we extend a warm welcome to reconnect and rejoin our community in the following events in alignment with our offerings:
• In-person yoga classes: every Sunday from 9-11AM at our SW Portland yoga shala with potlucks on the last Sunday of the month
• Monday meditation with dharma teaching: every Monday from 8-830PM online, FREE on 10/31 (enter FREE at checkout)
• "Heart-Wise Living: Moving Beyond the Mind" program with Kelly: Jan 5-Feb 16, 630-830PM online
• 2023 Nepal retreat: two retreat options spanning Feb 24 to Mar 7, 2023
We look forward to welcoming you back to your practice, into our community, and to your reawakening.
With loving kindness,
Raj and Kelly, Yoga for Life Co-Founders
