Father's Day Pro Boxing Classic

Portland Boxing Club athletes made a strong showing, going 3-1 in a combination of amateur and professional bouts at the Father's Day Pro Boxing Classic hosted by Banner Promotions at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME on June 15, 2024.

In the co-main event, PBC’s Casey Streeter, a 154-pound super welterweight of Raymond, ME defended his USA New England title against Jimmy Williams of Providence, RI with a surprising first round knockout. Williams started fast throwing flurries of combinations however Streeter was able to weather the storm, backing up Williams in the corner and landing a left hook that hurt Williams. Streeter then poured it on, eventually stopping Williams at 2:45 in the first round.

PBC boxer and former New England Golden Gloves 165-pound middleweight champion, Wade Faria of Gorham, ME made his pro debut against Igor Pessoa, of Boston, MA. The fight lasted only two rounds with Faria picking up the pace in round 2 and scoring with a barrage of combinations to floor his opponent 2 times, eventually ending the fight with a vicious bodyshot scoring the TKO at 2:38 of the second round

In exciting amateur action, PBC’s Ilyas Bashir, a 139-pound elite lightweight of Auburn, ME dominated and outboxed Ashbel Abilly from Worcester MA, during his three round bout and won a unanimous decision. Bashir continued to show why he is a top prospect in USA Boxing. 11/15/2023

Over the past 30 years, the PBC and the land around it has been a dumping ground for all kinds of trash, furniture and appliances and we have not chased the trash dumpers down but instead disposed of it at our expense. That is going to change. We have installed surveillance cameras and moving forward we will find the people rude and ignorant enough to dump their trash in front of a non-profit business. We are looking for the person who dumped this pile of fluorescent light fixtures at our front door over the weekend. They did leave behind some paperwork with information that might help the Portland Police track them down and we will give them until Friday at noon to remove this pile of trash before we send the info to the Portland PD. We would ask that you please share this post and PM us with any information you have on a possible person who dumped this and we are offering a reward.

Thanks for your help!
