You are all absolutely priceless! ✨
It’s the day after Maine Youth Leadership and we’re checking in: how are you feeling? How has the transition back to school and work been? Are you flinching every time someone says “outstanding” or “enthusiastic”?
MYL class of 2024, you’ve joined an expansive network of alumni who are doing good in their communities, taking the lessons of with them everywhere they go. Welcome!
Our last night at has come to a close. What a powerful day together! We started with Bridging the Gap, with four amazing speakers (thank you Emily, Carly, Tyler, and Robin!). Then we moved into Prejudice & Privilege, led by Ross and a talk from Brandon about self care. Before dinner ambassadors participated in a few volunteer activities and wrapped the night with a talent show and overall reflections of the seminar.
Tomorrow, we will celebrate and say goodbye (for now!) to the class of 2024. Keep being OUTSTANDING!
Pictured here are members of our senior staff who were once in the same shoes as our ambassadors.
One of our greatest strengths at MYL is our alumni network. Year after year, alumni of years past return to Maine Youth Leadership to volunteer as senior facilitators, alumni consultants, seminar chairs, and more. Without our volunteers, MYL would not be the program it is today.
Day two is done! We started with our Volunteer Keynote Julia Sleeper-Whiting, followed by Pat Veroneau speaking on “Your Past is Your Power”. Ambassadors participated in their first roll call, and we heard from our Leadership Keynote Cassie Crosby. Next was a Mock Town Council, the Wall of Fame, and we wrapped the night with the dance! Let’s do it again tomorrow!
And that’s a wrap on day one! Ambassadors met their group, heard from Character Keynote speaker Bill Picard, got to know one another more through Leadership Games, played some trivia, and more! Now we rest to get ready for day two!
Character is always built by the actions you take ✨
Today we remember and honor the brave individuals who lost their lives while in service to our country.
You have the power to do the unthinkable ✨
