So grateful to get such positive feedback from Dr. Moshtael's presentation to Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel PediNet 2024 Behavioral Health Care for Children with Chronic Illness! An urgent topic and one we're happy to speak to as one of the nation's leading pediatric eating disorder treatment programs. Online Reviews - Kartini Clinic 07/03/2024

Dear Kartini Friends and Families - We need your help! We are trying to elicit more Google reviews from our families. https://kartiniclinic.com/google-review/

For those who may not have read it, we do have a policy statement on reviews https://kartiniclinic.com/blog/post/online-reviews/

But the fact remains the only antidote to bad reviews (in our view most are wildly inaccurate and deeply unfair) are good reviews, especially from families who have benefited from Kartini's program.

And even if you'd prefer not to leave a Google review (we get it!), simply engaging with existing reviews that you agree with - for example by "liking" a review - would be enormously helpful. To read and engage with current reviews simply Google Kartini Clinic and follow the links to Reviews.

Thank you!

Eating Disorders: About More Than Food 05/13/2024

May is National Mental Health Awareness so please join us and our colleagues at the National Institute of Mental Health in highlighting the need for improved treatment access and better clinical outcomes for mental health (aka brain health). In terms of eating disorders the message is clear: these illnesses are about more than food. Eating disorders are highly heritable (i.e. genetic) illnesses of the brain. Parents don't cause them and children don't choose to have them. Thank you!

We join our colleagues at Academy for Eating Disorders in voicing our concerns over the recent American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for treatment of high body weight in children. Treating unwanted weight gain as a disease rather than a symptom of underlying metabolic disorder(s) strikes us as the wrong way to look at these complex issues. We are also concerned that the proposed treatment interventions, including bariatric surgery on children as young as 13, is not adequately supported by clinical evidence at this time. More needs to be done to ensure that as clinicians we abide by the Hippocratic oath: first, do no harm. Abby Sarrett-Cooper F.E.A.S.T. Kartini Clinic for Children and Families would love your feedback 01/16/2023

Dear Friends and Families - Eating disorder treatment is difficult. And while we work tirelessly on behalf of the children we treat, we realize that parents and patients have by far the hardest job. The road to recovery can be bumpy and we certainly are the first to acknowledge that no eating disorder program is a perfect fit for every family. This is why we welcome all feedback and reviews, and take the time to answer each one. So if you haven't already I want to encourage each of you please to provide feedback to our team, even if that's as simple as giving a 'thumbs up' to reviews you agree with.
