We are proud to be one of the 125+ organizations that endorse Measure 117! Measure 117 would enact ranked choice voting for statewide and federal races, which gives voters the option to rank candidates in order of preference: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. It's a simple improvement to our elections that gives you more choice and more power on your ballot. We urge Oregonians to vote YES on Measure 117 this election!

In a culture of hustle and bootstrap mentality, time is our most valuable commodity. We celebrate those who “do it all” and prioritize performance and productivity. The four-day workweek is an equitable way to not only provide workers with a better work-life balance, but to acknowledge that the way we think about work needs to change.

This is why we’re highlighting who’s working on the state and national levels to advance a four-day workweek policy and prove that not only is it possible, it’s beneficial for employers and employees alike. They’re also working to make a four-day workweek attainable to hourly, non-unionized, working-class, essential, and industrial workers at all levels.

The future of work is now, and the momentum is on our side. It’s time to make time poverty a thing of the pas

Last year OHEA launched an open call for personal stories and expressions of art, related to experiences of COVID-19 and long covid for people living in Oregon. With help from our friends at Gard Communications, we have compiled those submissions into a website that is now live and open to the public.

Please visit www.oregoncovidstorytelling.org to witness the submissions by way of artwork, audio files and written testimony submitted by community members throughout Oregon.

We truly appreciate and would like to extend our gratitude to those who provided a submission.

Be Well and Take Care.

Last week, the CDC announced new respiratory virus guidance that changed the isolation timelines for COVID-19. These new guidelines pose a significant and unnecessary danger to disabled and high-risk people. Let's be clear: COVID is NOT over. The pandemic is still raging on, killing and disabling far too many. AAPD released a statement expressing our major disappointment and frustration with the CDC's new policy, which you can read at our .

Disabled and high-risk people who are feeling terrified and alone in the face of this news: Your life is worthy. Your safety and care should be centered. Now is a time for us all to practice community care more than ever.

Drafted behind closed doors, leaving out the input of Black and brown people most affected by increased police power, HB 4002 will increase racial disparities in Oregon. And it fails to address the state’s addiction crisis. ACLU of Oregon

Description: Black background with an orange box at the top with white text that reads: Flawed. Cruel. Destined to Fail. Below in white text reads:
HB 4002
- treats addiction as a crime
- increases racial disparities
- increases geographical disparities
- will convict thousands more people for addiction
- allows police and prosecuters to decide who gets treatment and who gets jail
- wastes taxpayer dollars
- upends the public defense system
- restarts the war on drugs in Oregon
- criminalizes poverty and homelessness.

Today we celebrate Brad Lomax, an unflinching advocate for Black empowerment and disability rights! Lomax was a member of the Black Panther Party (BPP), founder of the BPP supported East Oakland Center for Independent Living, and protestor during the 504 sit-ins of 1977.

He was joined by fellow Black Panther Chuck Jackson during the 25 daylong sit-ins who not only provided attendant care for Lomax, but for several other protesters. The Black Panther Party also provided one meal a day to protestors in support of their sustained efforts compelling the government to implement section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
