Providence College Galleries is pleased to present EXPAND, a new collaboration between the artistic team Hillerbrand+Magsamen and playwright Kirk Lynn. Mary and Stephan have explored the relationship between their home, family histories, and daily life for over two decades. Their diverse creative practice-photography, time-based media, sculpture, and performance-celebrates the transformative power and beauty inherent in the everyday.

Best in Show features selections of works by the graduating studio art majors to showcase their accomplishments and celebrate this class’s breadth of creativity and talent. The students focus for a full academic year to create a cohesive body of work, culminating in thesis exhibitions at Providence College Galleries. Each thesis reflects the artist’s engagement in experimentation with materials and techniques as well as in-depth cultural inquiry, resulting in distinct visual languages and artworks.

Have you been thinking about keeping fish but haven’t had the funds or time to research what would be needed? PCG has got you covered! We are looking to donate an aquarium tank with fish and plants from our recent exhibition.
Here’s what is included:

-29-gallon fish tank (32.25 IN L X 14.25 IN W X 20.63 IN H)
-a submersible preset heater and thermometer
-a hood with an LED light
-a QuietFlow Power Filter and filter cartridge

My HomeCourt, in partnership with Providence College Galleries and Providence Parks Department, is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $30,000!

This grant will support our 2024-2025 project at James Ahern Park in Providence, featuring an original mural to be designed by internationally renowned artist Trenton Doyle Hancock.

“The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to My HomeCourt, which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are pleased to be able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.”

TGIF! Enjoying some colorful libations courtesy of Edie Fake, who is presenting the 2023 installment of our annual "On the Wall" program at the end of this month. ⁠

Opening Wednesday March 29th with a reception and artist-led tour in PCG's Reilly Gallery, Fake will present a room-sized mural and custom-designed “reflection pools” that emphasize the importance of self-knowledge and contemplation.⁠ ⁠

COMING SOON "On the Wall: Edie Fake"⁠
Opening March 29th in PCG's Reilly Gallery. ⁠

For its annual On the Wall series, PCG presents American artist, illustrator, author, and activist Edie Fake for the artist’s first solo show in New England. With custom-designed wallpapers, geometric patterns, and mirrored vinyl, the exhibition will transform the gallery into an immersive artwork. "On the Wall: Edie Fake" is the final exhibition Jamilee Lacy will curate for PCG.⁠

Our Story

Providence College Galleries, with the support of the Department of Art & Art History at Providence College, present exhibitions and public programs focusing on contemporary art, innovative artistic practice and interdisciplinary cultural activity. Operating within two gallery spaces and across Providence College’s campus, the Galleries support the educational, service and community-oriented mission of the College with dynamic visual arts productions, including those that foster audience participation, cross-departmental collaboration at the College and cultural exchange at local, national and international levels. The Galleries ultimately strive to produce projects by artists and intellectuals who demonstrate how and why creative practitioners are vital forces in promoting diversity and shaping contemporary global culture.

Each academic year the Galleries showcase:

-6 exhibitions featuring local, national and international professional artists
-In-gallery performances, symposia and other public programs and events providing insight into the creative process
-On the Wall, a commissioned mural program
-An online exhibition guest-curated by a prominent American art figure
-What/When/Where/Why/How, an interactive online journal of arts and exhibition writing by Providence College students, faculty and professional guest artists/writers
-Site-specific art installations in academic and communal spaces across Providence College's campus
-Solo and group exhibitions featuring graduating PC Studio Art majors and minors
