The ID Department and the Critical Design|Critical Futures group is co hosting Anne Burdick, Professor and Chair of Media Design Practices (MDP) at Art Center College of Design.

From Critical Design to Designing for Criticality
Anne Burdick will discuss her work creating fictitious future scenarios for the Digital Humanities—an emerging field of study that integrates computation with critical interpretation. In the talk she will present a design brief that challenges designers, humanists, and computer scientists alike to use a "meta-meta-meta" approach that begins with core humanities concepts and designs outward to imagine digital humanities tools that don’t yet exist. In the process, she will discuss the difference between critical design and design for criticality.
