It's a hot day here in Rhode Island, so there's a good chance you're cooling down with an ice-cold Del's Lemonade & Refreshments, Inc. But did you know that JWU Wildcats are playing a key role in perfecting this iconic summer treat? 🍋🧊
Caleb Atkinson ’24 and Sang Hoon Chae ’23, both studying Culinary Science & Product Development, had an internship opportunity with the Rhode Island classic, Del's Lemonade. Through their hands-on internship, they worked on the art and science behind creating the perfect slushy texture and tangy flavor we all love.
Caleb learned at JWU how to apply knowledge to practice. “My Food Product Design and Development lab let me take all the knowledge and skills I had learned in my previous labs and use it to develop my own product throughout the semester while further developing my understanding of the food science process,” says Caleb. “I used all this knowledge and skills to develop gummies and other food products for Del’s.”
If majors like Culinary Science & Product Development interest you, learn about that and more at jwu.edu/majors.
