🛣️Get a better look at the proposed improvements as part of the I-95 15 Bridges project, which we kicked off today thanks to the hard work of our Congressional Delegation in securing the state’s largest-ever federal grant of $251 million toward the project!

Our project web page has before and after images of some of the improvements, such as completely redesigning the Route 10 and I-95 interchange and transforming a portion of Route 10 east of Elmwood Avenue into a boulevard.

Today we celebrated the largest-ever federal grant of $251 million to help us address 15 bridges along the I-95 and Route 10 corridor that carry a combined 185,000 vehicles per day.

The grant sends a clear message; it demonstrates the confidence the federal government has in the state’s ability to deliver high-quality projects.

The project will eliminate 9 more deficient bridges from our inventory and assures, along with our many other projects, that we’ll hit our 10 percent bridge deficient goal in 2026 as promised in the first 10 years of RhodeWorks. ✔️

Within 10 minutes, a car's interior temperature can heat up by as much as 20 degrees. Rolling down a window does little to keep a vehicle cool. 🌡️🥵

🐶🐈If you're traveling with a pet, avoid leaving them behind inside your vehicle to do outside tasks. You can keep your furry friend safe by leaving them at home, or by always taking them with you when leaving your vehicle.

You can prevent hot car deaths by always remembering to stop, look, and lock your vehicle.

07/30/2024

As the hot summer days continue, we’re reminding you to always check your back seat before leaving your vehicle.

NHTSA reports that 11 children have died in the month of July alone from vehicular heat stroke.

Always double check your back seat before doing anything else. It could save a life.

As of this past Friday, May 31, a lane split is in place on Route 146 North approaching the Sayles Hill Road intersection in North Smithfield.

Motorists continuing north only on Route 146 can use the left lane, traveling on a recently completed section of the new flyover bridge, instead of stopping at the traffic signal.

Motorists wishing to make a turn at the Sayles Hill Road intersection can use the right lane and the existing traffic signal.

Both lanes are available for Route 146 North through-traffic. Drivers should not suddenly change lanes at the split.

Attention:

MassDOT advises us that it will reduce through-traffic on I-95 southbound from three lanes to two at the I-295 interchange for ramp improvements starting today, May 12, 2024.

The lane reduction will begin approximately 600 ft. south of the I-95 southbound off-ramp and will end south of the Clifton St. overpass.

This pattern will be in place for six months. Northbound will not be affected.

RI.gov: Rhode Island Government 05/10/2024

Reminder:

Starting tonight, a newly reconstructed ramp from Route 6 East to get to Route 10 South in Providence will be open to traffic.

The new ramp is in the same location as the old one, which was replaced as part of the overall Route 6/10 Interchange project.

The opening of the ramp means traffic will no longer need to follow the temporary exit that used a looping design and a portion of the Westminster Street Bridge.
