During PPSD's first day of school on Tuesday, Commissioner Infante-Green, Governor Dan McKee, and Superintendent Montañez were at Narducci to greet students for the new 2024-2025 school year. It was great to see so many smiling faces!

The website launch comes as RIDE in 2023 announced the Wellness in Education Leads to Learning (WELL) grant program, which provided $3 million in funds for the creation and development of school wellness rooms and accompanying professional development.

We've announced $5 million in funding for instructional coaching in English Language Arts ( ) and in 24 school districts across the state! The funding will go towards staffing ($4 million) and professional development ($1 million).
In June, the Rhode Island General Assembly approved the funding and it was signed by Governor Dan McKee as part of the FY2025 budget, which continues to put RI on a path to improve educational outcomes, with particular emphasis on reading and math. In October, results from the Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS) showed that there was an increase in both math and ELA proficiency, by approximately 2.7 percentage points and 2 percentage points, respectively. This investment will help students and educators continue to succeed!
Today, we released reports by SchoolWorks and the Harvard Graduate School for Education focusing on the progress of Providence Public Schools and considering local authorities' capacity and readiness for a return to local control. The reports show there has been progress, but more work remains.
