13 years ago CrossFit Puyallup opened its doors and hosted our very first WOD!

Our first location was an 800 sf racquetball court that we grew out of in less than a year!
•
We moved to our current location in Oct 2012 and have been here since!
•
We started with just 2 coaches and have grown to over 10 coaches currently and many more than that who have been trained by us!

Michelle will be teaching our midmorning classes at 9:30 AM and 12 PM. She comes to us with a long history of CrossFit, coaching experience!

Started CrossFit in Jan 2012
Why I started: I read in a magazine that strength training helps with running. I was doing Zumba as my cross training a few times a week and would watch this class going on with women doing pull ups and using a barbell. It piqued my interest, I made my husband try a class with me, I beat him in our first workout (Helen), and the rest was history. I joined for my interest and have stayed for my love of the
community.

Favorite CF movements: anything with the jump rope and handstand push ups. My favorite lift is the sn**ch.
Least favorite: running
Outside the gym: I love hiking and snowboarding. My family loves to snowboard, but hates hiking. So I’m always looking for a hiking buddy. :)

Lindsay has also been teaching our kids classes and interning to be a CrossFit coach. And now she is official!

August CrossFit Bingo is going strong! We have 2 more weeks left!
There’s nothing like a friendly competition and some cool prizes!
For the month of August, every member is invited to grab a Bingo Card and start completing boxes and getting as many Bingos as you can during the month.
A coach MUST stamp each Bingo square for it to count. For every BINGO you get, you will be entered into the drawing for prizes at the end of the month. Prizes will be drawn at our Anniversary WOD on 9/14.
The Bingo squares consist of partner fun, extra fitness, mobility, and so much more! Some of the tasks can be done inside the gym, while others can be done outside of the gym.
The rules are simple…
• Connect any 5 squares in a row to complete a Bingo.
• A coach must witness/verify and stamp the square for it to be valid.
• Bingo will be played from August 1st – 31st. Cards will be tallied and verified the week after Labor day and prizes drawn after that.
• You will be responsible for keeping up with your card. Cards will be posted at the gym.
• Every Bingo line will earn you a ticket for the drawing for prizes.
Bingo prizes will include items such as:
◦ CFP Merch – Stickers, F***y Packs, Tumblers, bracelets
◦ 2POOD Gift Card
◦ Reebok Nanos

Sarah is on of our Head Coaches and has been a part of our CrossFit family for over 12 years!

She started as one of our athletes in early 2012 at our first location on South Hill.

Sarah began as an athlete for several years and then moved up to coaching once she got her CrossFit Level 1 certification. She is currently a level two certified CrossFit coach and working towards her level three!

She is also our First Responder Training Coach working with new recruits who train with us pre and post fire academy.
•
We are very blessed to have such a highly trained and talented coach on our team!

This Saturday we will be honoring the brave soldiers who died during Operation Red Wings.

June 28, 2005 was the darkest day in the history of the Navy SEALS. 19 men lost their lives that day.

We will be completing a special workout on Saturday in their honor. If you would like to join us, please do.

Warm up starts at 8:30 am. The workout is a partner WOD and will challenge all levels of fitness.

I’m coach Amanda! I don’t like talking about myself much but here we go..
•
Once I hit my 20s my weight struggle began. Working out was very boring. I hated treadmills and using machines. I just couldn’t get into it. I was diagnosed with PCOS and had a really hard time managing it. The more I tried the more confused I got because there was so much conflicting information out there and is still.
•
I started CrossFit in 2014. My physical appearance was slow to change but I started to feel better about myself about 3 months in. I started to feel strong and once I dialed in my nutrition, that’s when I started to see physical changes happen. Olympic lifting really caught my attention and became a huge passion of mine. I attempted to train only Oly lifting but found my way back to the WOD floor not too long after leaving.
•
In 2018 after my 3rd baby and 1st boy was born, I decided to try for my level 1 certification. After the seminar, test and the dreadful 1 week wait, I got my results that I passed! I completed the internship program with CFP and I became a coach! After coaching for a little over a year, I took a leap of faith and went for my level 2 in 2019. After the seminar, INTENSE test and that dreadful 1 week wait, to my surprise, I passed!

Obtaining my level 2 was one of the best things I did as a coach. Not only do I run my classes 5X better than prior but my understanding of CrossFit’s methodology was broadened drastically. From the movements to the programming to the nutrition to the recovery, it’s so much more than just a workout, and that’s what I love bringing to our members! I love helping people do what I did and still am doing, for their own self betterment and overall life improvement.

You can’t find the coaching, community, energy or friendships that a CrossFit affiliate provides anywhere except for at a CrossFit gym. It’s something I want to be a part of my entire life and hope to never take what it’s done for me for granted.

FAQs:
1) A friend can be a co-worker, neighbor, friend of a friend, etc. However, anyone who has terminated their membership in the last 3 months is not eligible.
2) Members can bring as many friends as they want to a class. However, there are 2 requirements: The current member must be in the first class with them. So, you cannot invite a friend to the 5:15 am class and decide to hit “snooze” in the morning. After that, they can come without you to class.
3) Friends can come up to 3 times during the week. Your friends will sign in for EVERY class they attend and complete a waiver at their first class.
4) Are there any pre-requisites before coming to BAF week? None. Classes are appropriate for all fitness levels.
5) What if the friend has not worked out in a very long time? Or they have never done CrossFit? The workouts that week will be designed for people at any fitness level. Everyone will have the option to do the level that is right for them. Coaches will help determine which version would be best for them.
6) The member who brings the most friends next week will receive a $75 gift-card!
