Heather Blaze Fine Art
Heather Blaze is a figure painter from the US Pacific Northwest. Artist's Biography:
Heather Howell is a visual story-teller. Why does she do it?
Howell uses colors to represent specific feelings and when she paints all the layers of color come together to form an emotional narrative on the canvas. Her paintings evoke all the fullness of the human experience and yield a sense of empathy. She says, “art is about feelings. I want people to feel connected, to look at a painting and feel something inside. Connecting through art reminds us that

It seems to me we can never give up longing and wishing while we are thoroughly alive. There are certain things we feel to be beautiful and good, and we must hunger after them.

I was privileged to receive a feature of my painting, "The Gift" on website along with some fantastic and talented artists. I included a link in the comments. Take some time and check it out!
There was an artist named Assof Evron (1977), who, before he an artist, was a photojournalist in Israel. His art examined the difference between what we see with our eyes and what we can see with a camera lense and screens.
The assignment was to take an unimpressive photos of a location that we don't normally notice. Make sure it's wide enough to capture enough information to look at. And to look at this photo for three minutes and write down what we notice. Then go back and take the detailed photos and write about.
It's 8am on a Saturday and I didn't feel like moving. I was looking at my bookshelf. I didn't take a photo, but I sat and thought about each object on the bookshelf. Why did I put the object on the bookshelf? Was there a story behind why I still have it? Each object had a story which included in depth stories about what went on in my life, I could remember what the weather was like, who I was with and the book shelf became more like a story of my life.
The puzzles that my cousin bought me when I was going through a particular hard Christmas that helped me relax.
The ab roller that shows how thoughtful my husband is. It's there because he had to search for it and I needed to for a workout and I couldn't find it. I thought oh well, and didna different exercise, but a couple days later he found it and gave it to me to use.
The postcards I bought in order to keep in touch with a family member more often.
Makes for a very interesting journal entry. And an unboring morning.
I wish you an unboring morning.
Wow, thank so much for this offer 😆

A personal critique before starting a painting color study.
Who am I to not have a lovely table cloth to destroy in my studio?
“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me, there lay an invincible summer.”
I was finally able to write my artist statement. It went from long and excited and unpersonal, to very short and unpersonal (because it was getting too personal), to personal and very long, to personal (but not too personal) and perfect size. Also, I know the direction my art will go because it brings me lots of joy and happiness.
If you want to be woken up early, get a cat instead of an alarm. :P

“The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times . . . The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.”
(Csikszentmihalyi, 1990).
I am updating my artist statement this morning. Should I include here the advice that I read on how to write an artist statment, which, after reading it, makes sense? The advice is that in the artist's statement, they don't need to know the entire history of how you grew up.
Sometimes, I want to hear why they are an artist, though, and specific experiences where they found inspiration and how it felt because that is not talked about enough. The key word here is specific experiences. I write mine down. And I always feel odd telling it to the general public. But when I reread them, I experience it all over again.

This image is an in-progress value study, where I'm trying to figure out the values before I paint them in a color study. In the middle of it, I wanted to understand this tiny hand I was drawing, so I drew it gigantic. It worked. After I did that, I could draw the tiny hand.
Yesterday, I woke up at 5 a.m., drove to Mount Rainier, found a spot along the scenic route, and painted it.
I have updated my portfolio website.
