These ghosts don’t come easy. Fallow deer are smart, unpredictable, and know how to stay just out of reach. You up for the challenge?
On this National Dog Day, it’s a reminder to cherish the time we have with our dogs—they’re never with us long enough. Dakota may be gone, but his presence and impact will be felt for a long time to come.

Purple Heart Day, observed annually on 7 August, honors the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or lost their lives while serving in the U.S. military.
It is also a reminder of the cost of freedom and the enduring spirit of those who have fought to protect it.
Please join all of us at Heroes Ranch in using Purple Heart Day to reflect on the significance of this medal and the stories of the heroes who wear it.
“The Purple Heart Medal weighs about an ounce – but it carries an immense weight of sacrifice, courage and honor.”
In honor of Richard Petersen, the flag at Heroes Ranch is flying at half-staff. We remember Richard “Rit” Petersen, a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. Rit, a Vietnam Vet and proud US Air Force serviceman, was known for his incredible strength, unwavering positivity, and sharp wit. He never complained and always had a good joke to share.
Born in Morrisville, Vermont, and raised in Plainville, Connecticut, Rit served his country with pride and worked diligently throughout his life, retiring from JBT at DFW Airport in 2010. He cherished his time with family, loved Harleys, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan.
Rit leaves behind his beloved wife, Darlene, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, laughter, and strength will forever live on in our hearts.
A private graveside Military service will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, August 26. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Heroes Ranch, honoring our wounded and disabled Heroes.
Rest in peace, Rit. Your memory will always be cherished.
Heroes Ranch will have a booth at the God and the Great Outdoors Expo! If you happen to be in the Tyler area, come out and see us at this amazing event. Meet our team, learn more about our mission, and discover how you can get involved.

Thank you for your support! See you in September! 🏌️‍♂️🇺🇸
🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Heroes Ranch! Today, we celebrate the freedom and unity that make our nation great. As we gather with family and friends, let’s remember the values that bind us together.
"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." – Ronald Reagan
We honor the brave men and women who have given their lives for our freedom. Their sacrifice ensures that we can continue to enjoy the liberties we hold dear. May we continue to honor our heritage, cherish our freedom, and uphold the principles that make America the land of the free and the home of the brave. God bless America! 🇺🇸
Happy Flag Day!
Since 1777, the American flag has stood as a symbol of freedom and unity for Americans and millions worldwide. On Flag Day, we celebrate not just our liberty but the emblem that represents it.
The original flag featured 13 stars and 13 stripes. Over the years, 37 stars, each representing a new state, have been added, bringing the total to 50 stars today.
Did you know there are rules for displaying the American flag? Here's a refresher for the next time you hoist Old Glory:
1. Do not let the flag touch the ground.
2. Do not fly the flag upside down unless there is an emergency.
3. Do not carry the flag flat or carry things in it.
4. Do not use the flag as clothing.
5. Do not store the flag where it can get dirty.
6. Do not use it as a cover.
7. Do not fasten it or tie it back. Always allow it to fall free.
8. Do not draw on or otherwise mark the flag.
9. Do not fly the flag in bad weather unless you are 100% certain it is an all-weather flag.
Next time you're in the area, take a moment to try and spot our American flag—pictured here, it is 3,200 Sq. ft. of Pure Freedom and sits atop a 150-foot flag pole!
We had an amazing day hosting the youth group from Lake Fork Baptist Church at Heroes Ranch! The day was filled with fun, fishing, and fellowship. Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a memorable and successful day!
Today, we honor and remember the brave souls who have sacrificed everything for our freedom. At Heroes Ranch, we celebrate the lives and legacies of our fallen Heroes who have served with courage and dedication. This Memorial Day, we reflect on their selfless acts and the enduring impact they've left on our hearts and our nation.
To all the families and loved ones of our Heroes, we stand with you in gratitude and reverence. Your strength and resilience inspire us daily.
Let's come together to remember their stories, honor their sacrifices, and ensure their legacy lives on. 🇺🇸
Happy Birthday, Freeman! Your incredible heart and leadership inspire us every day. We're grateful to have you leading the charge.

Patriots,
The nonstop rain last night and today has swamped out the Planned Parking Area for the event and I do not want to have any Patriots to get “stuck in the mud”.
So we are executing our plan B which is to park all our Patriot Supporters, Volunteers, Staff, Heroes, and (yes that means everyone) at Grace Fellowship Ministries, located at 711 E Coke Rd, Winnsboro, TX 75494 (Next to Tractor Supply)
(Just 11 minutes down the road from Heroes Ranch) and shuttle you over to the ranch from there.
Sorry for any inconvenience but we will not surrender to the rain, as our Heroes and Supporters wouldn’t want it any other way.
Dress for a little wet weather and mud on the ground. We're excited to see you tomorrow Rain or Shine.
If you have any questions on this, please feel free to call me direct at 714-936-5700 …Free
