Join us with our friends from RethinkWaste on Thursday, January 18 from 5-7pm for the All Things Kids community swap in the Family Place at the Downtown Library. Bring gently used toys, clothes, shoes and more for kids ages 0-12 and find something “new for you” to take home from the donation pool. Stay for Pajama Time Stories right after at 7:15pm.

Can’t make it to the swap but want to donate? Drop items in the Downtown Library lobby from January 12-18. (Please no soiled, expired, or recalled items.)

Though Winter MakerClub may be ending soon, there's still plenty of Makerspace programs for kids to look forward, all month (and all year) long!

Kid Makers programs coming up this weekend...

TOY MAKING FUN (Saturday, January 6 @ 2pm)
Kids can kick off the new year by crafting their own catch-the-ball toy and taking home a complimentary copy of Goodnight Racism, while supplies last!

LEGO ROBOTICS LEAGUE (Sunday, January 7 @ 12:30pm)
Utilizing LEGO Spike Kits, kids aged 9-13 can participate in individual and team challenges and build their skill set sto attempt the monthly challenge! For all other ages, please come to the Coding Club at 2pm (description below), robotics is also available at that time.

CODING CLUB (Sunday, January 7 @ 2pm)
Have fun learning to code with the Coding Club in the Makerspace! Learners of all ages (4-100) and experience levels are welcome. Children under 10 need a parent to be present, and all other parents should be in the building during the program.

We're happy to announce that Peninsula Libraries' 9th annual Young Adult Novelists’ Convention (YANovCon) will take place Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the South San Francisco Library | Parks & Recreation Center!

New this year, we are excited to open the convention with a Writing Workshop for Teens, which will be led by novelist Lily Meade. Following the workshop, author Ray Stoeve will be joining as our keynote speaker in this free half-day celebration. The day's events include a teen-led Q&A session followed by three different panel discussions on topics related to this year's featured theme: To Be You: Identity in the Age of Censorship.

This year's YANovCon proudly features the following award-winning, notable, and new young adult novelists:

Redwood City Library Foundation raises funds to increase financial support for Redwood City Public Library’s services, improvements, collections and more. Current Foundation initiatives include funding the Makerspace, Bridging the Digital Divide and Career Online High School.

Redwood City Friends of Literacy is dedicated to promoting awareness, raising financial support and advocating for the intergenerational literacy services of Project READ-Redwood City.
