The Oceanographic and Physical Sciences Building is a four-story, 91,300 square foot teaching and research facility housing classrooms, research labs and a small auditorium. HC Yu and Associates provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for the new facility. Student/teacher interaction is fostered through the organization of laboratories and offices on either side of a circulation spine which functions as communal space. The lecture rooms and exhibition spaces are combined to form an entry feature which becomes the physical and intellectual focus of the building and its environment. The building was conceived as the first phase of a three part plan to create a coherent Science Quadrangle for the Oceanography, Physics and Geology departments.

This historic two-story courthouse project includes renovation to repair the deflecting roof and update the facility to meet ADA requirements. HCYU provided MEP/FP/FA Engineering Design Services for the rerouting of ductwork, replacement of diffusers and the modification of plumbing and fixtures related to restroom renovations. Building emergency lighting and fire alarm systems were also modified to meet ADA code compliance. The 4,000 SF Courthouse includes office spaces, a 2,000 SF courtroom, judge’s chambers and jury room.
