Looking for something to do this summer? Study AWAY with this summer...without leaving Virginia📍! Travel to the Eastern Shore and Sewanee for the fieldwork course: Design As Resilience.

Hear more about this incredible opportunity from faculty leaders Laura Battaglia and Tim Hamnett:
“The Eastern Shore Study Away (ESSA) program serves as a vehicle to study the interior of a pattern, a building, a town, and a landscape. We believe that we, as designers, bear responsibility to the communities for which we design and the landscapes in which we design...This program teaches our students - through hands-on experiences, reflection, and integrative learning - how to develop site-study methodologies which can be used to understand a range of issues. At the heart of the experience is the goal of assisting students in developing a methodology of understanding place and site through formal and contextual analysis.”

Hi I’m Ramsey :) I’ve been studying abroad at the American College of Greece near Athens since September. This university is about a 20 minute drive outside of the city in a cute little neighborhood called Agia Paraskevi. Greece has been absolutely gorgeous to study and grow in and I’m excited to share some things from a typical week here with you all🥰

A little bit about me:
I’m a junior double majoring in philosophy and law and political science. I love traveling (obviously), writing, reading, and the beach :)

So far, while studying abroad, I have gone to Aegina (a Greek island), Munich, Milos (a Greek island), Budapest, Berlin, Paris, Thessaloniki (the second biggest city in Greece), Rome, Milan, and Florence.

I chose to study abroad because I wanted to be fully immersed into a different culture and have the experience of moving somewhere alone and being able to adapt quickly. I’ve done many of my travels around Europe solo and it’s taught me so much about people and how much goodness the human race can foster🤍🤍

I’m excited to share this week with you all and I hope I can influence some of you to study abroad!

If you have any questions feel free to DM me here this week or message my personal account
